Terrified witnesses babble confused stories. Many claim that Edzilla has stupid, bloodshot eyes. He seems shortsighted, barely able to focus on anything beyond his own ravenous appetite for demolition. Sometimes he sways in one spot like a heroin addict waiting for a fix. Sometimes he lurches like a drunk, and marches through a structure as if he never noticed it.
A dark ray shoots from Edzilla's forehead, rendering logic impossible. His breath is an electromagnetic pulse that makes the stupidest sophistry seems to be one of life's obvious truths. He hates coherent thinking and will screech until he overwhelms it with his genius for violent noise. Edzilla exhibits the insolent swagger of the natural bully, the fierce anger of the barbarian destroyer. He is perpetually enraged at the sight of anything coherent or beautiful. The barbarian doesn't need to understand something to love destroying it.
People glance back in panic as they flee the city. Edzilla seems to change shapes and colors, but most insist he is huge like a building, red-black, and glistening. He snorts noxious fumes that cause mental incoherence. Edzilla lumbers across the landscape looking for something logical or intellectual that can be smashed into debris. After he passes by, the landscape becomes a Valley of Ashes, like the burned cinders described in "The Great Gatsby."
Edzilla's insane bellow makes people shiver and sweat. Everyone is gripped by pathetic horror. If only it were a movie. No, the catastrophe unfolds relentlessly day after day. This mutant monster lurches and stumbles from one idiotic feat of destruction to the next, snatching up unlucky children and ripping off their heads.
Milton said that Satan was darkness made visible, not the presence of bad things so much as the absence of all good things. Edzilla is emptiness made visible. He is a vacuum that people can see. Not a creature but a black hole where logic, meaning, and civilization itself are devoured. People hoped he might be a fictional monster, created by rumor and fear. No. Edzilla is real. He exists everywhere a child is not taught to read. Everywhere third-graders are kept from mastering simple arithmetic. Everywhere that students learn no history and no science. Edzilla rules all classrooms where children are not shown maps or taught the names of oceans and rivers.
Edzilla stomps hospitals, businesses, theaters, cars and ambulance, but especially school buses as he hates children, especially if they have books with them. He destroys everything except school buildings. That is where he lives and breeds.
Edzilla is best thought of as the God of Ignorance. He hates knowledge, information, content, facts, learning, and scholarship. A cult created him. He is a monster brought into existence by the concentrated will of the Education Establishment, and their longing for a world without knowledge or facts.
If Edzilla has any sustaining desire, it's that everything else be as empty and meaningless as his inner vista. He wants to destroy whatever is unlike him, that is, anything true.
Many people think the vast educational bureaucracy is real, that all those professors of education are real. Now, it's more accurate to say they are psychic manifestation of the great emptiness named Edzilla.
The best scientists and defense experts are helpless. They don't know how to fight this invincible monster. The only hope for destroying this thing is to embrace logic and clarity—these are like the cross for Dracula. But people are too frightened. They turn to jelly and slink away.
Latest reports say Edzilla crashed his way into Columbia's Teachers College and trashed it. The monster was enraged that professors thought they could still control him. No, they created him but now he's broken free from their commands. Finally everything must be wrecked. Nihilism does not know when to stop. Edzilla is an equal-opportunity destroyer of whatever is left.
