The Church of Scientology has aired a Super Bowl ad in light of ongoing controversy over a Sundance documentary centered on the religion.
The ad features voiceover accompanied by quick clips of footage including a person hiking, a DNA strand and a close-up of an eye.

"We live in an age of searching: to find solutions, to find ourselves, to find the truth," the announcer says in the ad. "Now imagine an age in which the predictability of science and the wisdom of religion combined. Welcome to the age of answers."
This is not the first time the church has paid to air an ad during the pricey platform. Scientology ads aired during the Super Bowl in 2013 and 2014 as well.

This follows the doc Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief debuting earlier this month at the Sundance Film Festival. The church has launched a Twitter account to discredit the film, which focuses on Hollywood's connection to the faith.
The Super Bowl ad can be seen below.
Seriously? The NFL aired a scientology ad? Is this the same NFL that refused to air a Tim Tebow pro-life ad? Or did they finally allow that?
Seems to me the NFL turned down some ad a few years ago because it was too pro-Christian....
Mebbe I’m wrong, but that is in the back of my mind.
Anyone remember?
Cult with three piece suits, next question.
They did run the ad with Tim Tebow and his Mother. But the ad did not mention abortion. The controversy was that it would be an anti-abortion ad because Tebow’s Mother had been advised to abort him. But it was just a very positive ad. Sort of “Life is good.”
If you don’t own a three-piece suit....you are pretty much not going to be able to afford the church rate charged.
Aired a Scientology ad? Missed that but if so, it just signify’s the downfall of the NFL - really! I’d expect no more than another 10 years before they become obsolete (10 years as most).
One TV ads are going away.
Two Television is going away.
Three Streaming is taking over.
Four Violent sports are going away.
Things seem to be changing much faster than happened in the past so not so sure about the timing but all of these things will happen soon! Actually, glad to see it happen in my lifetime.
You see, Stan, there is a reason for people feeling sad and depressed. An alien reason. It all began 75 million years ago. Back then there was a galactic federation of planets, which was ruled over by the evil Lord Xenu. Xenu thought his galaxy was overpopulated, and so he rounded up countless aliens from all different planets, and then had those aliens frozen. The frozen alien bodies were loaded onto Xenu's galactic cruisers, which looked like DC-8s except with rocket engines. The cruisers then took the frozen alien bodies to our planet, Earth, and dumped them into the volcanoes of Hawaii. The aliens were no longer frozen. They were dead. The souls of those aliens, however, lived on, and all floated up towards the sky. But the evil Lord Xenu had prepared for this. Xenu didn't want their souls to return and so he built giant soul-catchers in the sky. The souls were taken to a huge soul-brainwashing facility, which Xenu had also built on Earth. There the souls were forced to watch days of brainwashing material, which tricked them into believing a false reality. Xenu then released the alien souls, which roamed the earth aimlessly in a fog of confusion. At the dawn of man, the souls finally found bodies which they could grab on to. They attached themselves to all mankind, which still to this day causes all our fears, our confusions, and our problems.
Are scientologists completely bonkers?
All in all, the worst collection of commercials by far I’ve ever seen.
really?????? We wouldn't want people to get boo boos. We wouldn't want boys to become men.
Heh, bring back the Gladiators! They were loved in their time.
Is that paragraph from Southpark? I know that it is, in fact, what scientologists believe but they would never write a succinct paragraph like that. They dole out that paragraph in a series of extremely expensive sessions, that dolts like Tom Cruise and John Travolta pay truly amazing sums of money to get.
That’s what prize fighters and even football players have been likened to. I’m fine with that. Just no putting to death. Save that for the war against the ‘terrorists’.
Yes and yes
I don’t remember this ad. I would have shouted “Hail, Xenu!” if I had seen it. Did they show it before or after the game instead of during?
There is so much stupidity in the world it is utterly amazing. And I’m not talking about the ignorance of growing up 3rd world poor. I’m talking about the educated stupidity of Scientology, Mormonism and global warming. Just to name a few.
Agreed
I remember.
Scientologists are more than a mere religion, they claim to ‘science’.
