Mary Rathke has an amazing story. She was conceived in rape, which means she’s fortunate just to be alive.
With a society that thinks abortion is perfectly fine in cases of rape or incest — after all, who wants to carry the baby of a rapist – most people forget that the debate over abortion in such “hard cases” is a debate that includes someone else other than the mother who was tragically victimized by rape. That someone else in this case is Mary.
“My mother was raped; many would say I am the rapist’s baby. Those mothers who have been raped will quickly say their child is their baby, not the rapist’s. In my case, I was never the rapist’s baby, nor my mother’s,” Mary says, putting things in perspective.
Mary adds: “When you hear that you’re conceived in rape, you think this is an accident—this is something that wasn’t meant to be. A lot of times people say we need to abort children who’ve been conceived in rape because it’s the rapist baby. I think about me now when I hear those stories. I wouldn’t be here. That all the lives that I have affected would be different. For what my birth mother had to endure has given us a life.”

Girl is floozy, gets pregnant, puts kid up for adoption, kid grows up to be floozy. (This kid was a classmate in high school).
Girl gets raped, puts kid up for adoption, kid grows up to be a sociopath. (This kid buried my neighbor’s kittens alive).
Back when there were few adoptions, this was obvious. Adopted kids were often messed up.
Behaviors are genetically inheritable, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little.
How does the title make sense, granted I’m on pain meds but...........

How does this hit you? “I’m against abortion except for rape and incest, and the mother’s life”. Well she is a product of rape, as in her mother became pregnant as a result of a rapist. Most would say “why don’t you abort the pregnancy because you were raped?” but this woman’s mother choose life. Yes the pregnancy as not the mother’s fault in that she did nothing wrong, the mother like many decided the baby is innocent in this and if were are lucky society will realize that just maybe it’s the rapist that should get the death penalty.
Well I said that I was on pain meds and sad to say this is not the first mistake I made this evening. After this post, which I am reviewing carefully I am desisting from responding again to anything for the rest of the night. Let this be a lesson, percocet and clear thought do NOT exist together! I HAVE NOT seen any stats on this matter, but wonder if its true that babies conceived through an act of rape are almost certain to be aborted.
I raised a child conceived in rape. The child was a child of joy, from the day he was born. Non of his behavior ever mimicked his sperm donors. Ever.
I have not found any. I have found stories of women who were raped and aborted. They said the abortion was worse than the rape. Does that help?

That is exactly what he said. No proof, junk science, just abort because the father is a rapist.
That isn’t all he is saying, NorthstarMom. I’ve heard this comment before but for ALL adopted children. “You don’t really know what they will turn into” or “they could be the child of a morally corrupt woman and turn into a bad seed”. IMHO, they secretly agree with abortion.. to cull the herd of “undesirables”. As a Mom with an adopted child, all I can say is that all babies are precious. Simply beautiful gifts and blessings of God. Those who can’t see that (and believe that somehow they have DNA that will turn them automatically into bad/evil beings) are listening to the Devil. For those who believe such nonsense, have you ever been to a nursery where little bundles of blue and pink are resting. Can you pick out the “bad” one or do you see beautiful blessings?
