Almost all of the victims have fallen asleep suddenly, some literally as they walked, and remembered nothing at the point of awakening.
Many of the villages 582 residents have now suffered the condition several times and have even been unconscious for as long as five days at a time. Doctors have already ruled out viruses and bacterial infections, while scientists have been unable to find any chemicals in the soil or water that might be behind the epidemic.
...
The first reports of a problem in the area emerged in early 2010, but the number of incidents has been steadily rising over the past few years. Over the summer, 60 people were treated for signs of the condition, which leaves victims feeling dizzy, unable to stand, fatigued and with memory problems.

Whoa! this reminds me of a movie (I don’t recall the name of the movie) where in a small town, all the children had gone into a coma like state and woke up being some sort of killers.

Toxic gas? You can’t smell carbon monoxide. Doesn’t explain why they sleep for several days, though. Usually, you die from too much carbon monoxide.

Could be mass psychosis, but I’d still look for environmental causes. A lot of very contaminated places in Siberia.

You mean nighttime? Daggone it! If you explain it, it can't be "unexplained", now can it?

we are witnessing a case of mass psychosis similar to 'Bin Laden Itch', when hundreds of people in the United States found a rash on their skin because they were scared of an expected a bacteriological attack.
