Interesting. Had they broken out the iPhone 5s from the 10.6% attributed to the iPhone 5, given that the lower selling iPhone 5C is in the fourth position, Apple iPhones probably have taken all FIVE top positions, but still only seven of the top ten slots as the other makers would drop down a slot and the iPad mini at 0.6% would drop off.
“26.3% of the mobile device cameras used on Flickr were iOS devices, occupying the seven of the top ten in that category: first, second, third, fourth, seventh, eighth, and tenth positions. Swordmaker “
Doesn’t that infer that most of the remainder were Android phones?
My camera wasn't even on any of the top anything. I'm still shooting with the Canon EOS-20D and still happy with it. I posted some photos on another thread. I noticed the 40D is better but when I have something I like, I tend to hang onto it for a long time. And I would like one with HD video which you have to go even higher, or the Rebel line, or another brand.
So I transfer my photos via a USB to my imac, always process in Photoshop and downsize, and upload via a DSL connection.
That's one thing that infuriates me about iphone photos. People can't or won't downsize them and I get these huge photos clogging my mailbox to the point emails bounce, and I have to delete both the photo email and empty the trash on my server. One person who sends me lots of photos which I enjoy is courteous and savvy enough to resize hers, I think she uses mac iphoto.
Now the iphone cameras in good hands take remarkably good photos for what they are. They are in a class by themselves. I'm not impressed with the video and low light seems to have improved some because surely the Facebook young 'uns who are shooting away every day their kids and posting them don't know anything but frame the subject (if possible) and click.
Another advantage to an iphone is you can grab shots very fast or not get them at all whereas the other cameras, except the pocket-type digitals, take some time to ready, are a lot to tote around so you don't take them unless you intend taking photos, and many venues do not allow any cameras but cell phone users can get away with a lot.
Eventually but not for some time, will an iphone camera be truly competitive with my 20D with some top quality lenses. My camera is dated but my lenses have held their value, a good investment really, if you take care of them.
Anyway, I've never owned a cell phone, never wanted to, was mad when I did price an iphone and realized how much to have to spend a month for service. I could change my mind though. I saw how text messaging works and find it annoying. It's annoying when people are rude and won't turn them off. It's annoying that cell phones in particular and computers in general have impacted our social interactions in both positive and negative ways.
Still iphones are amazing and coveted around the world in a way I can't think any other desired consumer product has.
I have a few questions.
Can you zoom with an iphone?
Can you bump up ISO to get better indoor or low light shots?
Does it have a flash and correct for red eye?
Can you do close ups?
Do they have image stabilization?
Can I resize a photo and upload without running it through some photo editing software so they are sized for web viewing?
What didn't I ask about it that I should have? I'm going to bed but will check back some time tomorrow. Nite all.
The part I love is when working on complicated stuff like a carburetor (ok I’m old LOL).
You can photo every step of disassembly and have it right at hand for the rebuild.
