FULL TITLE: Baby's first breath: Breathtakingly intimate pictures capture the miracle of birth and the first seconds of life in all their raw glory
A photographer has captured the wondrous, miraculous moment of birth - in all its raw and unglamourised glory.
Taken before a mother has seen her baby for the first time these amazing photographs show the reality of how we all enter this world.
The warts and all pictures are the work of respected Danish photographer Suste Bonnen who was given unprecedented access to mothers while they were in labour.
Suste, 65, who has worked as a portrait photographer for 30 years, was given permission to take these remarkable shots at the Copenhagen University Hospital.

Wonderful, except the first seconds of life for that child started 9 months earlier......
I have a quibble with the title.
When a baby is born and takes its first breath, it is NOT experience the first few seconds of life. It began experiencing life several months before, when its brain started to form, thus giving it the capacity to experience.
Birth is just a developmental milestone, where the baby transitions from receiving nourishment through the placenta to receiving nourishment by other means (although still dependent on the mother).
You know this, I know this, but for now let’s rub this pic in PP’s face!
grr... typos.
Correction: *it is NOT experiencing the first...
Fantastic pictures!
What a laugh Mr Kitty and I had at the one kid who looked a bit like a zombie.
(I had four kids, all C-section. I have earned the right to laugh!! )
They kind of look like all of my boys when they were born. Except mine were all beautiful. (LOL!! not really.)
Babies are awesome. I’m so glad to have ours and our grandkids alive and well.

Unless you are pro-abortion. Then it is a lump of tissue until it is birthed.
Fick sucks.
Yes, it's a Spoonerism
How anyone can look at these pictures and say there is no GOD is beyond me.
Is it me, or is that baby huge? At first glance I thought it was a midget.
I bet that each of us remembers falling in love at first sight.
Indeed. That is why I object to that kind of pro-abortion language. The baby did not suddenly spring into existence, nor was it an inert mass that suddenly became alive, at the moment of birth. Pro-lifers should never use language that implies that these unscientific pro-abortion beliefs are accurate.
and c-section babies all have beautiful heads - not all pushed out of shape!
Loved all of them from the start, even if it took a few weeks for them to cuten up.
Loved them all through the teenage years too - that’s when it gets hard. :-)
