New York Citi Bike riders are at risk according to a new audit exposing spotty maintenance checks, poor cleanliness and defective docking stations. Comptroller Scott Stringer released his report Thursday looking at if New York City Bike Share, which manages the scheme, is in compliance with its Department of Transport contract. According to maintenance data, only 28per cent of the 6,000 two-wheelers in Manhattan and Brooklyn were inspected in November 2013, 34per cent in December 2013 and 38per cent in January 2014.

"(S)potty maintenance checks, poor cleanliness, and defective"..that describes every piece of infrastructure in NYC. Why should Citi Bikes be any different?

All around Manhattan, not sure about the other boroughs, are bike stands where you can swipe a credit card and get a bicycle to go around the City. When you are done you find another stand to return the bike. It is a bike sharing program sponsored by Citi Bank.

Hard to figure Rudolph Giuliani being so Left leaning. From what I could tell, he did a pretty good job cleaning up the City.

This dates from long after Guiliani’s two terms as mayor. It’s a Doomberg program.

It's where that other Picante sauce comes from.

"(S)potty maintenance checks, poor cleanliness, and defective"..that describes every piece of infrastructure in NYC. Why should Citi Bikes be any different? What's wrong with the program, which is run by New York City Bike Share under contract to the NYC Dept. of Transportation? To paraphrase Arj Barker:
"Well, they can't spell 'city.' I hope their bike maintenance is better than their English is."

It's sponsored by "Citi" Bank.
Not sure where the company got their spelling.
But here's their logo:

I’m guessing Guiliani cleaned up NYC and the subsequent usual suspects let it get trashy again.

Bloomberg is a Nanny Stater but he did maintain Guilani’s policing policies that made NYC safe. The Commie now at Gracie Mansion might be a different story.

So a program that allows people to ride bikes for free to get around the city results in broken bikes and poor cleanliness? What a shock. Socialism proves to be a disaster again.

The only criticism I have of Citibank is that they were stupid to believe that they would get positive PR out of this Utopian nightmare of a program.
