I watch my wife’s dog. He licks his butt. He licks the other dog’s butt. He licks his nuts. He licks the ground around the trash cans. If he can get away with it, he eats the cat poop in the litter box.

Can’t speak for dogs, but I have read that cats have a natural detergent in their saliva which allows them to keep themselves clean without the need for constant baths.

Never contracted a disease from cats. However, I’ve had more than my share of colds and flu from stupid people who don’t cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze.
