Just like the one my dad had when I was little... affectionately referred to as 'El Klunko".

Not many know about the M-Series Mercury trucks. They were sold primarily in Canada.

That picture really threw me for a minute. I assumed it was taken when the car was new. Then I saw the words ‘digital’ and ‘ipod’. I thought, ‘wth?’

A friend's dad had a '57 Chevy, I got to drive it once.

Another friend's dad had a late '70s Corvette, I got to drive it once.

I am so fortunate to have lived those days.

My biggest thrill of the year (other than summer vacation from school) was the auto show at State Fair of Texas!

All the newest cars on stage, some you could sit in. 1958 Cadillac Eldorado convertible! Chrysler Imperial! Cut-away models of V-8's. Pretty girls showing unattainable cars (OK, I was a little young for the girls..)

And I came home with a stack of slick car ads that kept me dreaming for days.

Thanks for the post

.This rendered image in particular evokes memories.

In 1959 my eigth grade History teacher also taught art. He caught one of the guys reading a custom car magazine in class. Instead of reaming the guy out he asked the class how many were interested in car design. As you can imagine every boys hand shot up. So he set up an after school talk session, bring in some of his rendered drawings in the style of the one you posted, black paper with colored pencil. Well pretty soon we were trying to imitate the style with our own designs. Of course, our drawings were straight on simple side or front elevations

After a few weeks he brought in booklets about the Fisher Body Guild Contest. So those of us in woodworking class had new projects.

The teacher's finding the magic hook so quickly resulted in better grades from all the boys in his classes and proved to us that school had immediate practical application.
