Computer help needed: (Mozilla) AdBlock Plus Causing Video Lag
11/15 | self

Posted on 11/15/2014 12:29:29 PM PST by icwhatudo

I have long ago "cut the plug" and watch movies and TV exclusively thru the internet using sites like Veetle, Solar Movies, an Movies4k.

I have always used no script and AdBlockplus as these sites are notorious for popups and ads...but once defeated the content is amazing.

Recently I noticed videos have been lagging. The sound is fine but the picture keeps studdering/ quickly freezing and unfreezing.

I have done all I can think, cleared temp files, reinstalled firefox, no success.

I then disabled all add-ons and BINGO-movies now playing perfect-no lag...but the damn ads are back!

When I reinstall AdBlockPlus the ads go away but video is back to lagging.

Help me Obi-wan, you are my only hope!

” Veetle, Solar Movies, an Movies4k.”
I assume they all require you to watch ads to pay for themselves.

Try installing a flash video downloader in Firefox and save the stuff you want to watch in files instead of trying to watch is streaming. Also load VLC media player to play the files. You can get a dozen things downloading at once. Once the are downloaded, you can watch them without further ado.

Veetle has ads built into the streams that used to be defeated by Adblock

the others just cause popups-also defeated by NoScript and Adblock

Make sure Flash player is updates to the latest version. Then go and update your video drivers.

Good Idea but I have been streaming for 2 years and don’t want to have to go back to having to download just to watch something. I have had it set where I can just turn on any movie or show and watch it with the same ease as flipping thru TV channels.

In Firefox, click Tools drop-down menu/Options selection/Content button and put a check-mark in the box named, “Block Pop-up Windows”/click “OK”.

Net neutrality will put a stop to that!

I’m using Pale Moon (flavor of Mozilla) without Adplus and I use SolarMovie. I generally don’t get popups but I stick to Vodlocker and sometimes Filenuke and Played.to . Right now I’m watching Elementary. I watch alot of content on SolarMovie and really haven’t had problems with popups or adds - maybe its because I generally only click the Vodlocker links.

It could one of several possible situations:

Your ISP could be doing maintenance to the Internet.

The source website could be having problems.

==

I use both the ROKU box and WDTV box. Occasionally, one of them will glitch when I watch a video. Sometimes, I can switch to the other and things are fine. Other time, both glitch — so I blame that on the originating source: Netflix, HBO Go, etc.

==

Depending on your OS and browsers, if Windows, you might try viewing through IE or some other browser to see whether the problem is there.

Additionally, if it is a specific movie/program, it could be that it was originally mis-encoded. I have had that happen on some Internet videos — the audio is out of sinc with the video.

==

It is difficult to say without a lot more information about the OS, browsers, ISP, etc.

You probably clicked on a blog.

Nothing good can come from that.

When I use IE, the videos run fine....but I get all the ads and pop-ups because I’m not able to use AdBlock and No Script.

Is there another add-on that does what adblockplus does?

1) Go to “help” at the top of your browser.

2) Then hightlight and left click , “Troubleshooting Information”

3) On the right towards the top left click, “Reset Firefox”.

4) Get and run “CC Cleaner “. It’s free. Use the top left 2 items, “Cleaner” and “registry”

https://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER

5) Finally, pay $14.95 for “Advance System Pro”. It will keep your maching running like a champ. Don’t get “Ultimate” if you already have a virus cleaner. Been using it for 4 years now. My PC Laptop is fast. Here is the link.

If AdBlock+ is wonky, click Tools, then add-ons, and search 'ad blockers' and a bunch will pop up. Give one of them a go, maybe BluHell firewall, it seems popular. My AB+ seems ok, did your FF upgrade to 33.1, whoops, now it wants to go to 33.1.1--it never ends... See what happens! I used to watch stuff on Veetle, then someone told me about Free TV Online, if one printed that page out it'd be 30' long. Plus, they have movies as well. Been using it for 6 months, at least.
