These Four Walls [Vanity]

These Four Walls

A little bird dropped a News item in my lap the other day; with the cacophony of anti-gun rhetoric driving emotional responses on all sides, I found it impossible to not see the irony juxtaposed with current events.

It’s no secret that those who promote obtuse gun control want a range of controls in place to prevent the mentally-ill from acquiring weapons to facilitate violent tendencies; aside from the patently obvious objections to the rhetoric, my objection here is the widening definition of mentally-ill and its application. Suggesting that medical doctors may serve as officers of this encroachment is evidence of a significant expansion of this thinking that may someday flag a citizen for the medicine being prescribed for anxiety or stress, or an incorrect answer to a questionnaire. That expansion is a frightening prospect to most lawful citizens, particularly those Conservatives who now find themselves being boxed in not just by Homeland Security white papers defining them as Rightwing extremists but institutional governmental bodies such as West Point: A little-known paper written at West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center, Edges of Radicalization, cites

There are very few people who progress to violent action in isolation, and those that do so are often motivated by other forces such as mental health issues or other political grievances.

Within 6 months of that publication, key assertions now follow a liberal bent begun by Homeland Security with CTC’s release of Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right, with only honorable mention of the violent Left. Is it then any surprise that military leaders are being asked how they would respond to orders to enforce laws on US citizens domestically (more specifically, to also “fire on them”. Several times since 9/11/01 Posse Comitatus has been amended to permit Federal troops to enforce local laws. The latest amendments regarding Use of Armed Forces in major public emergencies derive from the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012, to include the following revisions to prior amendments:

SEC. 1068. REPEAL OF PROVISIONS IN SECTION 1076 OF PUBLIC LAW 109-364 RELATING TO USE OF ARMED FORCES IN MAJOR PUBLIC EMERGENCIES.

(a) Interference With State and Federal Laws-

(1) IN GENERAL- Section 333 of title 10, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:

`Sec. 333. Interference with State and Federal law

`The President, by using the militia or the armed forces, or both, or by any other means, shall take such measures as he considers necessary to suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy, if it--

`(1) so hinders the execution of the laws of that State, and of the United States within the State, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity, or to give that protection; or

`(2) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.

It had been argued that even Posse Comitatus needs limits. Do the Amendments as written limit, or expand the role of the Federal Government? What about the tone of specific questions asked of our troops-in-training? I digress.

It should be noted that without regard to the Left’s pro-governmental-control push and its drive to demonize/criminalize thought independent that of the aristocracy, many examples exist of their utopian vision for society in abstract: Housing, healthcare, social order, governmental control of the populace, equal wages and treatment for all …you can find these conditions being met every day within the four walls of your local State & Federal Prisons. The irony, however, is that the authorities can no better control violence in cities like Chicago, Detroit, New York and Washington D.C. than they can in the prisons while exercising the ultimate level of governmental control over a single, geographically-isolated group (rampant drug use, sodomy, physical violence, murder, extortion, corruption…the list is long).

I provided the lead-in to this prosaic compendium referencing a news item; it is not a stretch to imagine that the “stresses of working every day in the negative atmosphere” and “the pressures of the job” former Benton County  Sheriff’s Sergeant Spevacek describe at the jail won’t someday soon be proposed as metrics for determining mental fitness in regards to currently-lawful and Constitutionally-mandated Rights of our Citizenry. Or is it? Let’s take Spevacek’s “stresses” to the limit:

The irony I perceived of that news item was that it was only the sterile security environment that would have prevented a guard in Spevacek’s emotional state from “snapping” and prosecuting more than just simple assault on an inmate(s) (had his state been apropos). Media and gun-control Leftists would obviously prefer not to use the example of Spevacek’s workplace to represent their utopia; however, there is no escaping that irony.

So…in addition to free housing/healthcare, Equal Wages, Societal Control, Big Brother, we have another facet of utopian life within those four walls: Gun-free zone. Yet Government still cannot prevent the Rapes, Murders, Drug-abuse, Contraband-smuggling and other violent crimes from occurring in the utmost sterile security environment in the United States: The Prisons. That, also, is ironic, given the agitprop message we’re led to believe from the Left and our Government. There are civilian communities with far lower crime rates absent the sterile security, absent the evolving reasonable restrictions, current & proposed.

Still, there exists ONE example of governmental-control in this country that works…the quintessential, the exemplar of the so-called perfect society: Violence-free, gun-free, class-free (fiscal), free Healthcare, equality for all, population-control and requisite security…an orgy of liberal ideals, all under the watchful eye of Government. It is the impetus of those that seek abdication of the Founders’ musings that those who still believe in the Constitution find it futile to resist change. Faced with inaction, change is inevitable. That stated, should you believe “it’s all rhetoric” and “nothing will come of it” (i.e., the gun-control debate)…I close with the “exemplar” in catechism:

Is THIS how you want to live? Is that your vision for your community?

For many in this country living under the illusion that government will provide, there is little solace being the cowering victim awaiting a public servant when faced with imminent violence or death, particularly when the criminals are better armed, let alone the lawful citizen faced with the prospect of an uninvited public servant. For some it’s better to abdicate and submit to the control of the State. Most Americans, new & generational, do not give assent to the Party.

These “four walls” = your home/your prison; your choice. These Four Walls have definition & purpose; they’ll define both for you if left to their druthers.

Choose.

I was searching my hard drive for something else and rediscovered what I wrote almost 2 years ago, re-read it and decided it was apropos, given current events, to post it with just over a week to go to the mid-term elections.

(pardon the formatting...I just don't have the time to make it better)

Conservative sheeple are supposed to support the imposition of a police state; many do.

Left and right politics both lead to the same place - a dystopian police state.
