Will Ebola Be Death Knell for Democrats?
American Thinker ^ | October 4, 2014 | Karin McQuillan

The Democrat/Progressive Party may be signing their own death certificate in the 2014 elections with their mishandling of Ebola. One and half million people are quarantined in Sierra Leone. The first case has hit America. And all Obama has done is make a speech saying everything is fine here, but he’s sending American troops into harm’s way there. A ghastly virus that kills 50-100% of its victims and has no known treatment is something people notice. It is something women notice. Ebola is creating an epidemic of fear, for good reason. The Democrat ruling elite’s complacency, incompetence and leftist pieties are losing them the public trust.

Have you seen the photos from the TV Dallas/Fort Worth chopper of workers cleaning the Ebola victim’s vomit from the sidewalk in front of his apartment building? The CDC has it under control -- they ordered the vomit to be power washed. The area is not cordoned off, the workers have no protective clothing, and passers-by are tracking through the water in sandals. The blogger who posted them comments: “from the casualness of the guys doing the power-washing, it is unlikely that (1) they put any disinfectants in the power-washer or (2) they were even told what they were cleaning.”

Whatever it takes to put the death knell in PC is a small price.

What are the troops meant to do when they come across a fleeing Ebola patient, wrestle them to the ground or shoot them?

...”Whatever it takes to put the death knell in PC is a small price.”...

PC has been destructive from the beginning and some knew it would not end well. It is the main weapon in the arsenal of would be dictators. Widespread chaos in our systems and institutions in America are just around the corner in the Ebola crisis. When a few more Americans contract this disease and no one can figure out how, then it will happen. Already, the infection of the NBC journalist is a mystery. Can anyone say, “Marshall Law?” Surely I am not the only person concerned about this potential outcome. PC tells us that it is immoral for us to protect ourselves if others in the world are afflicted. That is suicide. Another thing..If this disease spreads wildly here, medical people willing to treat the sick will thin out from the need to protect oneself. Human nature will come into play. Did you hear the PC statement from a man on O’Reilly blaming slavery for Ebola? If there is a depth to insanity, that person is not far from it. Soon this will be history and those who survive our times will write it..Hope they get it right so that the painful lessons will be remembered.

The first purpose of government is to protect its citizens.

Neither party cares. Their members’ first and last purpose is reelection. I care as much about their personal well-being as they care about mine. None.

But we're told to keep voting, as if continuing to do the same thing will eventually result in a different outcome.

It’s totally bizarre to politicize a disease, but because this one started in Africa and most of the original victims were black, somehow that means it has Dem political implications and must immediately be treated with PC gloves.

I do think that GOPers would benefit if they stood up and said that this has been handled terribly by Obama and the Dems, and demanded a halt to travelers from those West African countries and revocation of visas for those people, stricter border procedures at the airports, the immediate development of a set of standardized procedures for people diagnosed with ebola or persons known to have been exposed, including quarantine and destruction of possibly contaminated personal property, and, particularly, the immediate return of our troops (who will need to be quarantined). But it’s probably not going to happen.

BTW, people here always talk about some guy named “Marshall Law.” It’s actually martial law, meaning law enforcement by the military; martial, as in “martial music,” means military.

No, but I can say "Martial Law".

C'mon. We have to be better than this.

Right after 9/11/01, I thought to myself: finally we’re going to do something about or self-destructive immigration policies and lax border security. I was wrong, of course. We probably even loosened up a little more to prevent offending Islamists.

I’m not putting a lot of faith in the country or the administration to do much about it this time either.

Good luck, everybody.

Our govt is being run by idiots who are as idiotic as the idiots who voted them in and that’s scary as hell.

There are over 300,000 US Visa holders in the countries of Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia. They can come to this country any time they want to, and unless they are vomiting or their eyes are bleeding before they board the plane, they will be allowed to enter this country. Their destinations are where ever there is a large contingent of their people in this country. Washington DC is one of the largest contingent of these people.

Ebola won’t be a death knell for democrats, because they’re going to manage it into a full-scale crisis... and what happens when Americans are faced with crises? They clamor for government action to protect them. What better time for such a dynamic to develop at election time? Hurricane Sandy presented Obama with a huge gift of being able to appear like a “commander-in-chief” in NJ and NY in the runup to the 2012 election. Exit polls showed many of those who voted for Obama stated his (albeit token) actions and photo ops with Chris Christie on the heels of the hurricane did it for them.

Let’s hope so.

If it hits the inner cities and blacks start dropping like flies, as the usual government incompetence is displayed, it’s going to be called *racism*.

I can only hope that it opens the eyes of everyone to see that the DEMOCRATIC controlling government is the one to blame.

I at least, will point that out to everyone who tries to blame the Republicans.

Apparently they haven't. According to Obama, it is pronounced Eboli
