WASHINGTON (AP) — Thousands of promised American forces will be moving into Africa over the next 30 days to set up facilities and form training teams to help the Africans treat Ebola victims, the Army's top officer said Friday.
Gen. Ray Odierno, the Army chief of staff, said the disease has accelerated faster than initially thought, so the U.S. needs to get people on the ground and ramp up numbers quickly. President Barack Obama has pledged 3,000 troops, and the U.S. military commander and a small team has arrived in Liberia to do initial assessments.

One of the few times I would support a refusal of our troops to go into harms way.
As a vet myself, I know this won’t happen because our men and women in the armed forces are people of honor and will obey orders.
Unfortunately many could die needlessly because of Obama’s stupidity.

I don’t have a problem sending troops in if and only if their mission is to build the camps/medical facilities for the treatment.

Our military has the skills to set up medical facilities/camps that can be sterilized.
These camps IMO, have to be designed like a prisoner of war camp, not only to keep people in but to keep people out.
Africa being Africa, they will go on a killing spree and kill everyone suspected of having Ebola and everyone trying to stop the spread.
If and when the killing spree starts it’s going to be a bloody mess and there will be hundreds, thousands, even hundreds of thousands fleeing to get to other safe countries.
They will find a way out and they will bring the disease with them to other countries.
We need to do what we have to do to keep it in Africa.
Setting up a secure area with a killing zone for anyone trying to get in is what our military is good at.

Nobody seems to want to answer that question. Instead they rattle off some BS about logistics and administration which still doesn’t say what will happen if confronted with a desperate machete wielding mob.

Just when you think that PrezPimp has done all the stupid possible...he comes up with this: sending our troops to DIE from disease.
A few days ago, I read about a hemorrhagic fever seen in small outbreaks in several areas of China in the recent past. It was like Ebola, but it completely consumed its hosts. Melted ‘em like slugs, to the bone, even after they croaked.
