“For better or worse...watch for ticket prices to go up if this passes... “

And salaries plummet. But wait... Wouldn’t that be racist?

There is a simple solution to this whole thing.

Stop watching the NFL on TV
Stop buying tickets to NFL games
Stop buying NFL licensed merchandise.

Get rid of the NFL and shut the politicians up at the same time.

They can go sky high. Never bought one, never will.

The networks and merchandisers will just have to send the major payments the NFL gets directly to the 32 teams. Since the NFL is merely a creation of the teams, it will get just enough money from the teams to break even and not one penny more. No profits = no taxes, just like now.

The NFL is not like most franchiser/franchisee organizations like McDonald's where the parent company is owned separately from the individual stores.

It’s truly ridiculous that the NFL is tax exempt. Subsidies for multi-zillionaires all the way around.

The teams are already paying taxes. The players, coaches and other staff also pay taxes. The only thing that is none profit is the NFL trade association. So in order to stop their non-profit status, Congress will have to go after the laws for trad associations.

This becomes dangerous territory fraught with all kinds of unintended consequences. Mostly because there are a lot of trade associations out there. My advice is to tread lightly ‘cause you could easily be “fixing” one thing but causing a whole lot of problems.

They should have the same tax rate as every other corporation, as should GM and GE and Solyndra and....

My response would be:

You pass this bill and I will be sure that every season ticket comped to every Senator and Congressman will be instantly revoked. See you and raise you.

Since the NFL itself doesn’t actually make money, it merely collects and distributes money on behalf of the teams, it’ll never pay taxes.

I am not opposed to removing the tax exemption because I don’t see why the NFL should be treated any differently than any other business. That being said, this is all grandstanding for these politicians.

The NFL should lose its tax exempt status for the simple reason that they are a for-profit business.

That they don’t pay tax is a first class inside scam.

I can’t understand how the NFL can be defined as a “non-profit” in the first place.

Why? The league office doesn’t have any profit, the teams do. The NFL tax bill would be zero no matter what.

This is just more Washington hot air.
