"If you've ever wondered what it's like to reverse right into the heart of a storm, this shocking video will give you a clue. In footage captured on a camera mounted on the vehicle's dashboard, the clip shows an unnamed man unwittingly driving straight into a terrifying tornado, in Bashkiria, Russia. As the driver reverses cautiously out of his garage, rain begins to fall hard on his windscreen.
But this is not just a spot of bad weather. As the vehicle makes its way onto the road, the wind picks up and the downpour becomes ferocious. The windscreen becomes totally obscured as water droplets become streams and debris flies towards it. Soon the wind is so fierce, it sweeps the car and its driver back towards the garage - which it rips to shreds in seconds.
Luckily for the driver, the twister appears to miss his car by a just few meters.
The footage also shows the aftermath and the trail of destruction left by the tornado: Roofs have fallen in, buildings collapsed and several windows of the Toyota RAV 4 have smashed, and the body of the car is severely dented.
According to Viral Hog, which posted the video, the footage was filmed on August 29 this year."
One heck of a pucker factor.
This happened to me so many times that I finally built a home with no garage. But seriously, living in central Alabama I have had a few close calls with twisters.
Holy frickin crap!
Right place, wrong time, right time :O
I can’t help wondering who drives a car with a dash cam running from the moment they start up?
Also when the meteor hit last year there were so many videos of it from different angles that the exact flight path could be easily calculated.
Dash cams seem to be a Russian thing - everyone seems to have them. They do capture some really interesting videos though - car crashes, airplane crashes, meteors, etc.
The damage to the RAV-4 is comparatively little for having been through a tornado.
What is it with Russians and dash board cameras? They’re videos are all over the web and YouTube.
I read in another article that debris that hit his car turned on the dashcam.
Also, I found that it was rated an EF-3.

Uh “their”
That’s a good video... but it ain’t much of a tornado. When we had the tornado a year and a half ago... they found cars on top of the 3 story shelled out hospital. And, about everywhere else you could think of. The cars became projectiles. :)
I have one in my sports car. I can’t tell you how many times drivers have acted stupidly “to quote our dear leader” when I am out and about. It’s called CYA.
MFO
Surprising that it doesn't happen here more often, frankly.
Get on YouTube and search on ‘driving in Russia.’ There are hundreds of compilations of mostly Russian dashcam videoes. Them peoples be crazy!
