Surprised I kept my breakfast down.

We do the same thing at pounds for unclaimed or unadoped dogs.
Not with such a vicious flourish, but dead is dead.
Ps I love my two dogs and 1 cat and would not stand by a let them be taken and destroyed. But strays can be a problem.

In one word: RABIES.
these stray dogs are often vicious, and feral. Unless they were born in someone’s home and petted before being abandoned, they are not nice doggies. They attack kids, pets and backyard chickens. And every year here in the Philippines 600 people die of rabies even though a series of shots is only 20 dollars at the local clinics and the farm dogs can get free shots once a year.

Now, THIS is news! Let’s get organized to stop THIS. Kill a journalist here and there...well, that’s the hazard of the job. But mangy, disease-ridden dogs that bite people being killed, NO WAY!

Considering that most muslim men have rabies, I wonder why they’re not being rounded up and poisoned. I’d support that.

Now now...
It's true that Afghan culture is quite violent, but not all Muslims are that bad.
The good people read the Koran and find mercy. The bad ones find verses to justify their mistreatment of their wives, but I have run into Christians who justified mistreatment of their family by misquoting verses out of context also.

One Kabul resident, Ghazal Sharifi, a dentist, told AFP how she had befriended a stray dog that had six puppies near her workplace and one day she discovered them all being poisoned. "The workers laughed at me as I held the dying bodies", Sharifi said. "This inhumane cruelty to animals is un-Islamic. "I saw dogs being thrown into a truck even when they were still just alive, piled one on top of another. I keep having nightmares about the scene. I just want this to stop." I talked to friends who served in Afghanistan.
They were horrified by three things: homosexual rape of boys, cruelty to dogs, and cruelty to women.

When I was in Iraq in 2008-09 they would have patrols that went around shooting strays.

"The only answer is to trap, neuter, vaccinate and release the dogs and we are working with the authorities to set that up. Guess this guy has never seen a dog pack in action if he thinks this is an answer.

So, they are acting like PETA, then?

Indeed.
Maybe the God/Dog thing really sticks in their craw.
Deicide by proxy.
