Let’s now hope that “BIG” L T will use some of the money at a weight loss clinic.
I was a prime candidate for a knee replacement when my doctor - a good friend - said “Loose some damn weight and see what happens.” I went from 212 to 190 - that’s been 8 years ago; the knee is fine.

Nice. I still wonder what he keeps.
If the auction house keeps 30% then that is $450,000 for them.
So the seller gets the remaining $1,050,000.
What is the tax on this. Is it capitol gains of 25% or is it income tax for Fed and State?
Sounds like he keeps $600,000 to $750,000 which is still a huge windfall for a poor man buried in debt, but not $1.5 million in his pocket.
This is the beauty of auctions. Items you can’t price will price themselves. If they tried to sell it for $250,000 it would have gone immediately and they would never have known how much more it was worth and gotten much more, even after fees and taxes.

I have an old Navajo saddle blanket that is supposedly from the 1890's. It appraised at $2,000.00. I guess I better hang onto it a little while longer.
Great story, though.

I have a blanket I got at Walmart three years ago. A genuine NAUTICA-brand blanket with synthetic filling, the color is white (well, KINDA white, now).
Do I hear 50,000?

Couldn’t help but tear up for h im as the price kept going up -
Seems like a nice guy - happy for him.
HOWEVER, that said - I can’t help but wonder - income all from disability? Because he lost one foot - gets around good on a prosthetic. He can surely drive, walk and has 2 good hands and no head injuries.
I think of what Charles Krauthammer achieved after an accident in college left him paralyzed from the neck down and even needs an apparatus to help with breathing.
A doctor of psychiatry, author, commentator - Many who watch him on TV don’t even realize how crippled he is.
Imagine his struggle every single hour of every day.
Sorry, I see no reason why this man can’t work to supplement his disability check.

Great story!! Watched the entire video.
I’m curious - of the 1.5 million, how much does the seller get after everyone else has been paid (auction house, etc.)?
