Unfortunately, if you go visit it, the in-flight movie is “The English Patient.”

2.6 acres is NOT a lake. It’s a medium size pond.

Nope. It’s one of them Acme Instant Oasiseses. Kids use ‘em all the time down here in the South just to keep from having to go outside and mow the yard.

There are several instances in the region where very intermittently, there is a powerful storm that dumps a deluge of rain, much of which is channeled through a single, deep, but normally dry wash to a normally dry depression many miles away, and far away from the original storm.

And boom, instant lake.

I thought these things in the middle of the desert were called an oasis. Bit of a stretch to call 2.6 acres a “Huge Lake”.

On second glance, never mind. Our educated Geographic Specialists have already identified this ‘lake’ as a mass produced hypnotic Mirage//

Neat. The second and more interesting question is whether/how long it stays around.

This is a raindrop compared to all the water underground. There is as much water under the surface as there is on top of the surface. The Bible calls it “Fountains of the Great Deep”. How do you suppose the earth was covered in water? Do you think the the rain covered the whole earth? And where did all that supposed rain water go afterwards? Normally when it rains, the runoff goes into rivers and eventually ends up in the ocean. But if the entire globe is an ocean....then where did the water run off into? The FACT is that you cannot create enough rain to cover the earth because the rain comes from the evaporated water that was originally on the surface of the earth to begin with. Ask any Geologist and they will tell you that this is called the water cycle. Here is another little known secret.....All the water on this planet...never leaves this planet. All the H2O on this planet can never just disappear. It might evaporate and get dropped at a different location. Or a city might suck up all the water and flush it into the ocean. But there is still the same amount of water on the planet as before it evaporated or got sucked up. Every molecule of water has been used over and over again a gazzilion times, has been drank and pissed out by animals, fish and humans, been evaporated and become rain etc etc.
So the bottom line is that whatever caused Great Flood, also caused the Fountains of the Deep to expel the water to the surface. Kind of like a when a radiator blows its pressure valve. Once the earth cooled off again, the water drained back into the Great Deep. IMHO
