In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
pusillanimous [pyoo-suh-lan-uh-muhs] adjective
1. lacking courage or resolution; cowardly; faint-hearted; timid.
2. proceeding from or indicating a cowardly spirit.
Example sentence:
It takes a lot to make Jimmy Carter look like Winston Churchill. But President Obama, who bats not an eye as a Russian warplane buzzes a U.S. warship in the Black Sea, has accomplished that with his pusillanimous policy regarding Moscow's creeping anschluss in Ukraine.
-- What Would Reagan Do: Revive Europe Missile Defense, Investors Business Daily editorial, April 17, 2014
Etymology:
Late 14th century, (implied in pusillanimity), from L.L. pusillanimis "having little courage" (used in Church L. totranslate Gk. oligopsychos "small-souled"), from L. pusillis "very weak, little" (dim. of pullus "young animal")+ animus "spirit, courage."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Dante is deep, and Dante is right.
Bingo. Now, you can wear a Penguins jersey to a Steelers or Pirates game, and all of those permutations.
Thanks for that-I only read Dante once-because I picked it to report on, so I didn’t get a thing out of it-but Dreher’s perspective-making it personal-is not something I’d thought of.
Xs girls and I visited Dante’s house in Florence. It was one of the sites closed on Mondays and we were leaving early afternoon on Tuesday for Rome so we hoofed it over there and to the Medici chapel on that Tuesday AM first thing.
Damn - going to take me a while to work thru it, but love what I’ve read so far. Thanks XS - and The Inferno is one of my fave things to boot!
You’re both very welcome, I thought it was great!
