Just another installment of "Cops and Peasants" (which is a lot like the old child's game of "Cops and Robbers", except only the cops have guns...).
My question is how they found the video at all. If it was gone for 15 months, it’s a miracle that it still exists.
Somebody within the system must be making backups.
Because you MUST fear the State at all times. They are our rulers and we are supposed to bow down to them when they even deign to look at us.
Why are they struggling to make race an issue here? Even if the cop had purely racist motives, he was wrong, got caught, and will now have to pay the consequences.
Makes me want to puke.

At a guess, no action was taken by detectives until the case was scheduled for trial. That’s about how long it takes to bring a case to trial around here.
I went to the link. It sounds like the officer was allowed to resign. It seems he should have been charged with assault. I am glad the victim is getting money from the city for this, but seems like the money should be coming from the LEOs involved, instead.

Right there. Ridiculously slow followup but the DA’s office in screening. None by the PD until -finally- some assistant district attorney caught it. FYI in a major city ADA’s can easily put in 80 - 90 hour work weeks if they strive to carry out all their obligations. The flow of cases and data is like trying to drink from a fire hydrant.
Cops seem to generally assume that people are lying to them. I return the favor. I see no reason to give a cop’s word any more credence than any other random person, which is to say not very much. No, I’m not a cop hater - I just have a healthy distrust of people in authority.
I’d star at that DA and let him know, “That $1.1 million...is going to defeat you in the next election, and you, too, Mayor.”
THIS crap is one reason why there is still a racial problem in America.
The average American has ignored or approved of the JBT tactics by law enforcement. Phone cams and dash cams are clearly documenting what black Americans have always said about cop behavior.
Now that LEO is so militarized and thuggish that every American is endangered by their aggressive and unconstitutional methods we suddenly get it.

Another important question: Why did Jones spend 15 months in jail? Why didn’t he post bond? I read the link and the link in the link to WFAA article. Jones had not been convicted. He was awaiting trial.
I suspect other charges and/or issues are at play here beyond what we are reading.
