WASHINGTON — (TG) “Let’s Move!,” the anti-obesity campaign launched by First Lady Michelle Obama, is rushing to the defense of Americans in the wake of a shameful study by the Department of Agriculture revealing that despite a raging epidemic of obesity that shows no sign of abating, nearly one third of the food produced in the U.S. ends up in the trash rather than in one of the nation’s 316 million ever-expanding stomachs.
That stacks up to 33 million tons – worth an estimated $161 billion and containing a staggering 141 trillion calories of energy – discarded each year.
While some say such waste is disgraceful in light of issues like hunger and limited landfill space, “Let’s Move!” called the profligacy inspirational and vowed to incorporate food waste into its anti-obesity campaign.
“Here we were trying to get people to do hard stuff like plant gardens and play football, and then we read this story and thought: ‘Just throw your food away – what a novel idea!’” said Hillary Roughnutt, a spokesperson for “Let’s Move!”

Since Americans waste so much food I guess food will just have to be rationed so people in other countries can have the food that Americans would otherwise waste.
After all “White folks greed leaves the world in need”.
Maybe there should be a UN food tax. For every 10 tons of food produced say 1 ton goes to the UN for distribution to the nations deemed needy.
I expect our little lefty friends will be getting all sorts of great ideas to solve this problem of Americans wasting food.
Just wait until Manbearpig figures out how much methane all that food generates in a landfill.

PS: Poor people don’t waste food. Rich ones, like all of Obama’s “bundlers”, do. If you want to stop a lot of waste, get rid of Obama’s One Percenters.

Amen! When they produce more eggs than my kids can sell or we eat those go back to the chickens (and a few to the dog). In the next couple of years I am going to give feeder pigs a try. A neighbor gets way more goat milk than they use or sell and it’s been promised to the pigs.

Oh man... I miss my hens. We'd give them all kinds of kitchen leftovers and they loved it. When we got snowed under with all their eggs I'd hard boil a bunch, chop them up and feed that back to them (with the shells for added calcium).
