BRAINERD, Minn. — Residents in the Brainerd lakes area reported seeing flashes of light streaking across the sky and hearing a boom that rattled homes and buildings, and meteorologists say the reports are consistent with a meteor event. The reports started flowing in to authorities on Friday between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., the Brainerd Dispatch reported (http://bit.ly/1cPPrbq ). Some residents said they saw a turquoise streak light up the sky, and others say a bright light illuminated their homes, even darkened rooms where the drapes were closed.

Interesting. That is a resort area and is busy in the summertime with lake traffic and in the wintertime with ice fishing, snowmobiling and cross county skiing. It is a beautiful area.

No GoPro cameras on dashes in Brainerd. We need these meteors to come down in Russia to get the video... though I would very happy if an asteroid came down on Washington D.C. even if there was no video... it’s all good.

Meteor event my arse.

What just happened? Christmas. What do Minnesotans consume in large quantities at Christmas? Lutefisk and beer.

And THAT, my FRiends, is a deadly combination.

It was simply a methane blast from Uncle Oly’s house.

Good grief - do the fish have any chance of simply avoiding all the hooks?

...And my wife thought I was nuts to get in one last fishing afternoon when the high temp. that day was 50 deg. F!
