The New York City Council voted Thursday to ban the use of e-cigarettes in public places where smoking is prohibited, including offices, restaurants, hospitals, parks and beaches.
Because many of the E-cigarettes are designed to look like cigarettes and be used just like them, they can lead to confusion or confrontation, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn told CBS New York.

Confusion or confrontation that is 100% the fault of the confused or confrontational moron. Sure why not punish the victim. /s

If that's not a good reason to ban something, what would be?
Say what you will about Puritans, you've got to admit they're persistent vermin.

See how this works? Once you let liberals gain a foothold, they build on their control by introducing this ridiculous similarity game.

We really do need to place a ban on New York City. For The Children, of course.

In a related story, E-sodas, E-transfats, E-MSG, E-guns, and E-conservatives have also been banned.
Sarcasm, but just barely.

Living in Maryland as a Conservative Republican is rough, but thank God I don’t live in New York.

Looks like it was really just about control after all, I'm shocked.

This sort of thing is the reason I would choose Detroit over just about any other city if I absolutely had to live in a city.
I could stand in the street eating a deep fried bacon wrapped ham and cheese sammich, drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette with a rifle slung over my shoulder and nobody would bother me.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Not worried. If anyone gets confused and confronts me about my e-cigarette, I’ll just point my thumb and forefinger at them and scare them off.

Friendly warning.
Don’t buy any Sarah Lee brand low fat cheese cake...............Tastes like air.
I bought one, not seeing the low fat label.

They have some e-cigs that look more like pens than cigarettes. I wonder if they’ll have to ban pens now, since they look like e-cigs and might cause confusion (in the libs’ tiny minds).

Real cigarettes may (or may not) be one thing....but if all these things emit is water vapor (which is what I've read) then this is silly.Except for a month or two when I was 15 during which I smoked (hated it!) I'm a lifelong non-smoker who is turned off no end by the smell of others' smoke. Also,my cardiologist says that *my* cardiorespiratory ailment makes me genuinely susceptible to real harm by being exposed to "second hand smoke".However,I seriously doubt that *anyone*,including me,would ever be harmed by water vapor.
If I was a bit younger I'd be tempted to challenge this law in the courts.I'd intentionally get arrested and then duke it out in the state courts...and the Federal ones if necessary.

It's true. I have been using e-cigs for four and a half years. I smoked for thirty, and quit overnight.
I'm always using it indoors. Offices, during meetings, nobody cares or complains.
