Pilot Study Finds Ways to Better Screen, Recover Guns from Domestic Violence Offenders

More intensive screening to identify firearm owners among individuals who are subject to domestic violence restraining orders, and streamlining processes to recover guns at the time those restraining orders are served could help enforce existing laws that prohibit these offenders from having firearms, a pilot study conducted by violence prevention experts at the University of California, Davis, and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has found.

SNIP

"This study represents a step in the right direction, but larger-scale studies will be needed to determine optimal procedures for screening and recovering firearms, assessing the incidence of adverse events and determining the effects on rates of violence," Wintemute said.

Few studies are so blatantly predetermined as this one.

"Abusers with firearms are five to eight times more likely to kill their victims than those without firearms. Firearm-owning abusers also are nearly 8 times more likely to threaten partners with firearms."

The precision of their measurements....5 to 8 times...nearly 8 times, etc.....is staggering in their precision. That my QM friends, must be how real science landed men on the moon. "We just orbit it 5 to 8 times and land nearly there."

No absolute numbers and ratios or percentages only is an immediate flag to look for liars and advocacy....not science.

They actually claim as a finding that abusers WITH guns are 8 times more likely to threaten to USE them than abusers WITHOUT guns are to threaten to use guns THEY DON'T HAVE!. More liberal lingo legerdemain you would have to be a real dolt not to question.

They claim 36 of 100 women have been beaten in their lives. Think of that. That also means 4 of 10 men beat their women.....guess that means what you mean by "beat". If my wife pummeling my shoulder with her fists to remind me I forget things until her knuckles hurt makes me an abuser....then maybe I can agree with those stats.....otherwise....BS alert.

There is much more....enjoy the read.

These people having visions of SWAT teams serving divorce papers at 4AM, shooting attack Pekingese, and ransacking the house "just to make sure" the EVILE man doesn't have any guns or other bad "man" things.

Gets the old blood flowing, eh?

Domestic violence is committed by women about 40% of the time against men. Will they take their guns, too?

Waiting for the pilot study on how to recover them from Compton, Chicago, and other places SOBs (sons of Barak) hang out.

“Domestic violence is committed by women about 40% of the time against men. Will they take their guns, too?”

The question should be, “Will they ever get them back?”

Answer: Only if no LEO, Judge, or court system flunkie wanted to add it to their collection.

How many restraining orders are issued under false information?

When the Mandela deification started, I googled the heck out of South Africa to get some more complete history.

Out of this came discussion of gun control and confiscation, with a link to the Nazi’s method of confiscation — first the “Communists”, then the “Jews”.

This link describes the history and legal progression of that gun confiscation.

So what do WE have? Mental, then domestic violent that we see now.

Blatant anti-white or anti-Christian probably to come. Don’t know how it will be “spun”.

Notice how the headline talks about "Domestic Violence Offenders", yet the article is about those served with TRO's, who are often victims of institutionalized sexism and process abuse?

Yes, and restraining orders are temporary, not permanent. This is a way for the police to get their hands on the firearms before the owner can give them to friends or an attorney to hold for them until the restraining order lapses or is revoked.

Once in police hands, it is time for legalized theft:

“How many restraining orders are issued under false information?”

Enormous numbers. Divorce lawyers now see them as just another lever to use in the divorce process. They are routinely abused.

I hear ya. I have been that friend - firearms keeper. Held some for a friend for the better part of a year. These were some heirloom quality firearms from deceased ancestors. I was honored to have his trust and to care for them. I actually detail stripped and cleaned them before storing them.

I stopped reading when Bloomberg's name popped up.

No credibility here. Expect all bias. The head MAIG and wanna be tyrant showered the school with big $$$ and sat as Chairman:

"April 23, 2001
Hopkins Names Public Health School for Michael Bloomberg

he School's official name is now the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Bloomberg has been chairman of the University's Board of Trustees since 1996 and previously was chairman of the Johns Hopkins Initiative fundraising campaign. The founder and CEO of Bloomberg L.P., a worldwide business news and information company, he devotes hundreds of hours a year to Johns Hopkins business.

He has given the largest single gift in the 125-year history of the Johns Hopkins Institutions and has contributed more than $107 million. Bloomberg gave $100 million to the Johns Hopkins Initiative, which concluded last year. Of that, $35 million was designated for the unrestricted use of what will now be known as the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. ..."

“Enormous numbers. Divorce lawyers now see them as just another lever to use in the divorce process. They are routinely abused.”

That’s true of everything government. People learn to work the system. I asked a state domestic violence against children investigator how many abuse charges were false. Her answer was, “Well, we know it’s about 50%.” She said, “Neighbors get pissed off at your dog crapping on their lawn and call in an anonymous tip. Or there are bad drug deals or just nasty relatives.”

Gosh, half. And a child abuse tip in Florida can get your children seized in an Elian Gonzalez type raid and it will take months to get them back. This happened in my Sarasota neighborhood twice. In both cases as a condition of getting the children back the parents must “admit” that they’re abusers and pay for therapy.
