Spearfish man's LBJ limousine shows evolution from convertible that JFK rode

On that fateful day 50 years ago in Dallas, the future of the United States was thought to be at stake.

Heightened security measures surrounded a newly sworn-in president, who was whisked from Texas aboard Air Force One, shadowed by Secret Service agents and the widow of John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

In the ensuing weeks, the Warren Commission was established and a sullied Secret Service pondered how to better protect the 36th president of the United States while still allowing him the mobility to leave the White House.

Transporting the president would never be the same.

According to experts in presidential transportation, “The Quick Fix” as it came to be known, involved swapping the convertible parade car that Kennedy rode in at Dallas to limos made of titanium, anti-ballistic materials and bulletproof glass.

“The top was fixed to the car now and included 1,500-pound roof-mounted bulletproof glass, which unto itself cost $125,000,” wrote Michael L. Bromley and Tom Mazza in their 2002 book, “Stretching It: The Story of the Limousine,” published by the Society of Automotive Engineers.

JFK was swore his oath in January of 1960. He wasn’t “the newly sworn in President” on 11/23/63, but why let facts get in the way of a liberal tear jerker?

The piece is referring to LBJ as the newly sworn in President.

I think he was referring to LBJ.

Why is the media still going on and on about JFK? It happened 50 years ago. It was a huge national tragedy, blah, blah. But he’s not the first American president to be assassinated. And there were several American presidents who died mysteriously and were probably assassinated. They even tried to take out Ronald Reagan, but the tough old bird survived the attempt. But every where I look I see JFK this and that. I even see it on all the tabloid magazines when I stand in line at the supermarket. After 50 years, why are they trying so hard to make us give a rat’s a**?

Yep, that was probably an RCC or radio common carrier set, although back in that era there was a special dedicated VHF radio network just for Presidential and other top VIP use. It was managed by the Bell system, and I recall being shown one of the base stations in the equipment room of the phone company back in the early 70s. It was just a regular 6 ft. rack cabinet full of radio equipment, but it sat in in the middle of about a 6 ft. square floor-to-ceiling steel fence with scary-sounding signs and alarm sensors all over it. The antenna on the roof was similarly protected, because back then the only “hacking” that could be done required a “hack saw” and physical access to the equipment.

LBJ was newly sworn in while being flown back to Washington.

A 50th anniversary is a major milestone for anything.

Well, it was kind of a big deal at the time, and this is the 50th anniversary. The liberal media idolized their knight in shining armor JFK, in spite of his obvious flaws (and still do).

But Obama can’t trust his minions or his puppetmasters. They’d all love to make a martyr out of him if it would advance their socialist agenda, because he has become a liability to them. Please pray for his safety.

Even if you don’t like him. His fate is tied to the fate of our nation. Think about it.

Why is the media still going on and on about JFK?

Because it furthers their agenda. Without the myth of Camelot, LBJ could not have passed all the socialist legislation in the 60's and the media could not have demonized conservative politicians. Darn near everything evil in Washington today was made possible by this tragedy.

You blame the JFK assignation for LBJ’s massive doctrine of socialism?

Never in American history was an assassination of this level televised after the Zapruder film was released. Compound this by the fact America stood watching as the Dallas P.D. paraded the suspected assassin around in front of the cameras, only to have the suspect assassinated before a national audience.

This created massive justified suspicion in regards to Kennedy's assassination. Then it was reported the suspected assassin had travel to the Soviet Union......This was real big stuff. In fact there are many knowledgeable, credible people who were close to those events, who believe others were involved and conspired to make this event happen.
