UN interpreter accidentally tells the world the truth
the elder of ziyon ^ | November 15, 2013 | Hillel Neuer

Posted on 11/17/2013 5:06:41 AM PST by CtBigPat

On Thursday a United Nations interpreter, unaware that her microphone was on, uttered words of truth in reaction to the General Assembly’s adoption of nine politically-motivated resolutions condemning Israel, and zero resolutions on the rest of the world.

Under the mistaken impression that she was speaking only to colleagues, the interpreter uttered the following words into the headphones of every UN delegate, and before a live webcast audience worldwide:

“I think when you have… like a total of ten resolutions on Israel and Palestine, there’s gotta be something, c’est un peu trop, non? [It’s a bit much, no?] I mean I know… There’s other really bad shit happening, but no one says anything about the other stuff.”

After the Holocaust, the anti-semites just decided to find a more subtle way to go after the Jews. The UN seemed like the perfect vehicle and it has served that purpose well for over 60 years without most people catching on.

The UN might be trying to drag US down but the converse is, US may be helping to keep UN from diving completely into the sewer.

That is a comment everyone should remember until the UN is gone. Which IMHO should be the objective instead of getting US out of the UN.

We and a few others are the ONLY stabilizing influence therein. We should continue to take advantage of that influence while we can.

Exactly. The UN has played the “Palestinian Refugee” game for the last 50 years. In any other conflict, the losers lose. They are absorbed into the victor’s land, or they move on.

But in Israel, the losers are continually propped up by the UN. The UN NEEDS the Palestinians as “Refugees” in order to continue their anti-Semitism. It’s a bad situation for both sides.

It used to be that the US was occasionally stymied from doing good by the USSR - China UN Security council veto.

Nowadays, the US is occasionally prevented from doing evil and starting WWIII by the Russia - China UN Security council veto.

The UN has always been authoritarian socialist elite rule, but occasionally they can be tricked into doing something not so bad.

Christian evangelism does (quietly) help alleviate some of the “refugee” trouble. Israel is very allergic to Christian evangelism to Jews, but does not care about Christian evangelism to gentiles. Christian Pallies tend to behave themselves.

Follow the theology.

China is growing in “quiet Christianity.” The Communists make a big show about restricting Christian faith to their state worshiping distortion, but in practice they can’t.

With the abolition of communism, the Russian Orthodox church has gained a resurgence; even Putin flaunts a cross, which he wouldn’t have gotten away with in his KGB days.

But the faith in the US is getting lukewarm now. (With a few hot spots remaining, though.)

Well, North Viet Nam certainly absorbed South Viet Nam in 1975. Also, Yugoslavians were absorbed into Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia etc.

The point is, in none of these cases did the UN see fit to “create” a permanent refugee situation as they did with the “Palestinians”, who were actually Jordanians.

The losers were absorbed, or, they moved on...

From what I can deduce, Russia is experiencing a genuine reaffirmation of Orthodox Christianity, and there is noticeable support from the current popularly elected national government. Putin's mother was a serious Russian Orthodox Christian according to several sources, and Putin likely received instruction in the home, but such practices were not revealed because of the iron fist of communism at the time. Additionally, there is no possibility that any Russian of Putin's age could have advanced through government service or politics without being a member of the Communist Party from his youth to the collapse.

Communist influence in Russia is not dead, they get second place in most all elections, but usually lose by about 15 percentage points to the Nationalists which is a serious defeat. While not out of the woods, this is good news for Russians, and makes Putin look more genuine when he sides against the Communists and leftists, and with the Church and Nationalists. Putin also has to deal with almost 20% Muslim population in the Federation, anywhere else and they'd run everything.

China, I'm not so sure. The Commies have maintained power and control, although they're far from Commies now. They're oligarchs, and misuse capitalism to get richer, while rigidly controlling showcase Christianity (and everybody else) in the standard commie way.

In my opinion, Russia cares too much about her people to start anything up, and China cares too much about her market. The trouble will come from Western Europe and the Arab states, both will try to use the UN and US as mercenaries to loot those same markets, Eastern Europe, India, South East Asia, and Africa.

HiTech RedNeck: Oh the stories that these translators could tell.
muir_redwoods: I never gave it much thought but I suppose UN interpreters rarely get to speak the truth.

From reading this story, it sounds like this person is an OFFICIAL UN Translator, an UN employee. In my late parent's retirement community were a retired husband-wife team of that position. In a conversation I was informed that they were subject to a pension-forfeit secrets clause on their knowledge. Given that their pensions were large and untaxed, this was a significant threat.

Interesting aside, we are talking about the 1990s and it was interesting that the husband was a Belgium native while the wife was French. The fact that they chose to retire in the US was an interesting conversation. They had the same tax treatment in Europe but their mutual choice was for the larger sense of freedom as expressed by their conversations.

The problem is also that there are 57 Islamic nations. They vote as a bloc. They dominate the General Assembly. Israel is routinely beaten up in that forum, and always will be.

On a side note...those 57 nations have also prevented Darfur from being classed as a genocide. Until the UN classes it as a genocide, nothing could be done. Hence, the inaction. The USA's policy had been to utilize the UN's definition of "genocide," and foolishly tied itself to that. Hence, the inaction on the part of the West.

When will we ever learn?

I tell my liberal friends it wasn't "Bush" who prevented action. It was their beloved United Nations that deserved the blame, and specifically, the Muslim voting bloc.

Oh, I may have been remiss: To understand the reason why the Darfur thing was never dealt with by the UN? That 57 nation bloc was supporting the actions of Muslim fighter pilots strafing African animist/Christian farmers trying to farm their land. The Arabs decided they needed the land more, and used every means to take it from them while the world looked on.

Bows and arrows against the lightning.

Using the UN, that 57-nation bloc has more power than we do (except for a veto on the Security Council). And it costs them nothing.

Let's make use of our navy. Get out of the UN. Then, that bloc would have to build a navy, collectively, to rival ours in power.

Oh, what's that? They can't? Too bad for them. Our forte lies outside the UN. Inside the UN, our navy, air force, army is merely a crippled, hamstrung instrument.

Let's free our diplomatic (by other means) potential, and GET OUT OF THE UN. We're paying for the military, let's go all Big Stick and get what we're paying for.

Don't misunderstand, I'm not advocating a war, but the diplomatic "flexing" of our influence, using all methods available to us (as we're paying for it, anyway).

The Chinese manifestation of genuine Christianity isn’t official at all. It’s unofficial and underground. It is not the official show church. Sometimes it gets persecuted. Don’t make the mistake of equating officiality with genuineness. I have heard about it through underground means through Chinese brothers and sisters.

No, I know the Christians themselves are genuine and persevering, I was assessing the government attitude. The Chinese government is still Communist except economically, and they persecute Christians. I believe the Russian government is ex-communist generally and is much more tolerant of Christians, even though most officials used to be Communists, and technically never renounced.
