Who would think the president who proposed HillaryCare would help kill ObamaCare. Bill Clinton just gave congressional Democrats cover to oppose their party's president and try salvaging their political skins.
When New Coke failed back in the 1980s, the Coca-Cola Co. didn't "fix" it; the company swiftly brought back the real Coke, calling it "Coca-Cola Classic."
In the end, New Coke was scrapped and the fiasco made consumers appreciate "The Real Thing" that they had taken for granted.
ObamaCare can't be "fixed" any more than New Coke could. But the pressure's on for Democrats to get rid of it, even if, like the Coke Co., they must pretend it's not really a failure, and they're not returning to the past.
Of all people, ex-President Bill Clinton has come to their rescue.

What the Democratic Party's elder statesman just did is give congressional Democrats permission to oppose Obama on ObamaCare.
It doesn't mean they will explicitly call for repeal, but they now no longer have to be shy about insisting on big legislative changes that could unravel the whole law.
Writing in Forbes on the eve of Clinton's remarks, University of Colorado at Boulder presidential scholar Steven Hayward firmly predicted that "ObamaCare is going to be repealed well in advance of next year's election" even if it's "repeal" by another name.

Suspending or delaying it...just won’t happen. The bulk of the administration ‘talkers’....have their entire reputations up on the line, and even the journalists at CBS, the Washington Post, and MSNBC...would all have trouble spinning the positive effect of this. It has to go forward, then be noted by April of 2014 as a complete and utter failure.
The election of November 2014....is more about the cost to the average American, and the dismal number of Americans who signed up....leaving more Americans without health insurance, than there was in 2008. In a public forum....it’s just impossible to tell this without laughing.
Between the NSA business, Ed Snowden, and Syria....I just don’t see the President traveling much outside of the US borders for the remainder of the term. The more you see of him in the campaign of 2014...the more negative you will get. I think he will just hunker down and start to be quiet by summer of 2014....doing mostly nothing.
It’ll suspend and delay itself... won’t be possible to even carry out. It is going to make the Titanic disaster look elegant. This kind of idol disintegration couldn’t happen to a nicer party that since antebellum times was bent on degrading humanity, and no I am not kidding. Took 150+ years for Democrats to get to this golden calf and it is grinding itself up into powder.
We are in for a tidal shift in politics. Hubris, meet nemesis.
No fixes. Short of repeal, that is.
If backlash is strong enough, political critters will start fighting for their own survival. Obama is not a factor anymore. Obamacare may be not repealed, suspended, or delayed, but it can be easily subverted because the words "as Secretary of Health may decide" are in every other paragraph of the law. The Secretary of Health will decide as she is told if Congress has a popular revolt brewing. Even a total gun confiscation would have a less severe impact on the US society than making healthcare unaffordable and inaccessible. This affects everyone.
Never underestimate the LIV.
He said, she said, they said.
Watch what Obamacircus actually DOES. The gap will reach the LIV when it impacts their health care, which they DO care about.
That’s what makes this whole situation so delicious.
The only way the Democrats have a chance to keep those Senate seats next years is a repeal, but a repeal will undo the Obama Presidency more thoroughly than losing the election would.
Plus if the Republicans take back the Senate in 2014, they might get perilously close to potential impeachment numbers, and that has to worry the Bamster more than he’d like.
Invest in popcorn stocks. This is getting fun.
I hope everyone sees this as a Clinton family ploy playing “good cop” to the Zero “bad cop”. The braindead electorate won’t reward the FreeRepublican efforts to stop this debacle in it’s tracks but will instead tune into Slick Willie allegedly saying the “same thing”.
These LIVs will remember and pull the Hillary lever in 2016... hell, 75% of females voters will pull the lever just because “it’s time for a woman president”.
The poster is incorrect. The highest rate increase I’ve seen reported was something like 539%.
I think Obama is too mentally ill and ideologically rigid to consent to anything but a phony “delay.” I think that even if the Congress sent a genuine repeal bill, he would veto it, and make more speeches claiming he was standing up for the people.
I can think of only two people in the world stupid enough to make that statement: Ed Schultz, and...and...
Simple solution: Republicans should run a minority conservative woman. That will strip a lot of support from Hillary! if she runs.
I’d commend your attention to Michelle Malkin if one wonders the type I’m thinking of.
One of Mark Levin’s amendments SHOULD have been the repeal of the 19th Amendment.
Obama once promised to scrutinize the federal budget “line by line” to ferret out redundant and wasteful spending. What better way to spend the remainder of his term while Congress kills this Chinese fire drill called ObamaCare?
Actually “real Coke” was never brought back.
Classic Coke had the formula changed so they could start using HFC instead of sugar...
If I was conspiracy theorizin’, I might think that ol’ bill just removed the noose from around Roberts’ neck and freed him up to rule the right way on the origination clause lawsuit against 0care.
yeah but they still make coke with sugar, you can get it.
and pepsi has a version with real sugar too, a lot easier to get and less expensive than coke with sugar.
