Quitting Business 2013... Opting Out

Word has been getting around that I am "retiring"; this is not true. I am quitting in disgust and sadness that the criminal entity I am paying taxes to is demonstrably not a legitimate government. This is the one means I have of legally striking back, by eliminating my income. This is a one-man general strike — all who wish to join me are welcome. My hope that we can stop the current lurch towards WWIII rises and falls each day.

An order came in recently with the note "We will miss you". As much as I appreciate that sentiment, my first thought was "Not nearly as much as I miss my country". Because I understand how slowly the wheels of history turn, I'm not expecting a restoration of the American Republic within a timeframe that would allow me, at my current age, to resume making Weed Wrenches. However, miracles have been known to happen and I would be delighted to help a new constitutional government get the economy moving again. In the meantime I have plenty of long-delayed projects to keep me busy, none of which will earn any taxable income. My whole life has been lived in the spirit of "voluntary simplicity". Now I am simply moving on to full-blown "opt-out".

I have talked to many customers about this in the last few months, and the feedback has been 100% supportive in spite of their disappointment. I have always found Weed Wrench customers to be more aware than average citizens, and now they are proving that again with their understanding. I regret the inconvenience I am causing to the people who need Weed Wrenches who won't get them, and I regret the harm I will do to the businesses that I do business with at a time when they need every customer they can get. But without a free country to live in, none of this makes any difference anyway.

I have spent a lifetime reading history. If I have a special area of interest it would be WWII and the era leading up to it. We can see clearly in hindsight what steps were gone through to create the fascist police state and the counter-measures which the German people did not take to prevent it. We, the American people in 2013 cannot plead ignorance as we see our government taking the same series of steps. If we do not stop this, it will be to our nation's eternal shame. — TN

I almost bought one of these weed wrenches last summer after my oldest daughter raved about them for serious landscape work after interning in a botanical garden and of course I put it off pinching my pennies. Then recently thought I'd get one for myself as a Christmas gift only to discover the man who makes them is "opting out" of the economy. I respect him immensely but I still need to get a weed wrench.

He is going Galt. (Atlas Shrugged)

We did May 1st.

That tool looks like a very, very heavy-duty of a weed puller that I have. It works GREAT! If that man’s does as well, you would have loved it.

We need something like that but just use a chainsaw. LOL

I think the next “big” group to “quit” will be scores of doctors.

That looks something like it. My daughter brought it home on loan with a hori hori knife and an A.M.Leonard triple blade hand saw that took down saplings - we cleared 25 years of growth in the front of the property.

The truth is, without our money, this government has nothing.

To someone who gets up around five AM and drives almost an hour to work, Galting is very enticing. Living among the Amish is close enough for me at this point in time but I have been referencing Germany in the 1930’s in my dinner conversation with my youngest while watching the news earlier tonight. I wonder how many people in the U.S. had similar hearth side comments tonight.

I agree. I fear that, too. Now that I am 65, and on Medicare...although not by choice...I am afraid that no doctor in town will take Medicare patients. I do have a very good insurance policy that I kept from my working days, but if that plan goes away in a year or two, I would not be able to afford what I have now.

http://www.oftwominds.com/blogmar12/taxpayers-as-criminals3-12.html

Can the state of california make a claim on your money if you moved away years ago and did all the paperwork correctly.... I.e. had a professional tax preparer file the forms?

What about all the people that had to relocate for their jobs?

Anybody here have firsthand experience with what california is trying to do, according to the article in post 1 and the link I posted above?

Anybody that can run this article by a professional tax preparer, and get their evaluation?

I think it's more like 1934. The apparatus is in place, but it is only being tried out on a test basis right now. When the go-ahead is given, people won't know what hit them. Try escaping when you can't even drive two miles without your license plate being read, you can't buy anything without a credit card that the NSA tracks, and you can't go into a transit center without your face being scanned. Not to mention the inability to email anyone to plan anything without it being read.

When the time comes, the noose will tighten so quickly, 1935 will become 1938 in about 3 weeks.

With the Fed printing phony money they don’t have to actually take your money to take your money...
