I was watching this show last night, the first thought to hit me was, IF these people are serious, why the HECK are they broadcasting their locations and their secrets on National TV...and second, WHERE in the HECK do these people get this money to do this? I know the answer to the second question is, who cares, it's their money, but still...100,000 dollars for a APC? If I am in Alaska, I know where to go for some food now...

Some of them do and some of the don’t, but you make a good point. I like the episodes about economic collapse the best.

From what I’ve seen, these shows go out of their way to film the most extreme and usually foolish “preppers” out there.

I especially liked the guy bragging up his “spooky” surveillance system that sends pictures to his cell phone. No mention of what happens when he has no cell signal.

While being in a big city isn’t the best place to survive, I’m not a big fan of running off to the wilderness. With all these people running off to the wilderness it won’t be wilderness for long. Also a lone survivalist is an easier target than a group. I prefer the middle ground of my tiny rural town with trusted friends and neighbors.

I think these shows are promoting a fantasy anyway. I’ve been hearing about the coming inner city riots for years now and they never happen. They were going to riot when the emergency manager took over in Detroit and nothing happened, they were going to riot when Detroit declared bankruptcy and it never happened.

I agree somewhat, but if you consider that most urban areas are at best a week-deep in supplies for their inhabitants, it is not a far stretch of the imagination to see that something as simple as an extended EBT malfunction, transportation malfunction could propel the 'entitlement' class among those inhabitants (likely a whole lot of them)to panic, attempt to stock up and then start rioting when that doesn't work.

We have already seen that Obama is more than willing to do awful things, just to get his way.

Doomsday Preppers (”DP”) since its inception has been nothing more than propaganda, and pablum for the low-information masses.

They deliberately select the most wild-eyed tinfoil-hat conspiracy nutjobs and offer them up to the low-info’s for their freak-show value. It reinforces the meme of the “crazy-wingnut-knucledragging-teabagger” that the Left has successfully established.

Case in point, the demographics: the “preppers” are overwhelmingly Causacian male veterans: the main three groups that the Left has vilified since the regime took power five years ago. The number of non-Caucasians I have seen on that program, I can count on three fingers.

From a prepper perspective, The Bride and I point and laugh at the very notion of letting media types see the layout of your disaster preps. Occasionally we might see a bright idea, but mostly DP is an example of WHAT NOT TO DO.

What are the first two rules of Prep Club?

What are the first two rules of Prep Club?

Never talk about Prep Club.
Never talk about Prep Club.

And the third rule:
The first time you come to Prep Club, you HAVE to Prep.

This “storage in the sea” concept is STUPID!

You won’t have the shoreline landmarks, following a tsunami.

You WILL have a bay full of debris, above and below the surface.

Since they live a couple hundred feet above the bay, bury your stuff up there!

NGC even made “American Blackout” to help promote their prepper shows.

An urban fireman doesn’t have room to store his supplies in his apartment so he has them in a storage locker a few blocks away. He’s got to go to the locker to get supplies, then return home with supplies leaving the locker unguarded.

My advice to him is to make rural friends that he can trust.

I don’t worry too much about the inner city crowd. They’ll loot for a week, then they’ll fight over what they’ve looted for another week, by week 3 they’ll head down the highway for the next city because they don’t do rural.

You have those that ADMIT that the S-will-HTF...
and those that will NOT admit the SHTF BUT....

Everybody KNOWS the S will HTF.....
UNLESS the S will hit two or three fans... maybe four or five of them..

As surely as their is S and F to hit... its just common sense..

I thought the three rules and they were:

If someone says:

prepper
Spam
MRE
Need more Ammo
BOB (Bug Out Bag)
BOV (Bug out Vehicle)
BOL (Bug out Location)

You take a shot.

Everytime you hear:

OPSEC
SHTF

You take two shots

Lastly when you hear:

TEOTWAWKI (The end of the world as we know it)

You bust open a keg and the liquor cabinet and start the party!

The inner city crowd won't stay inner city for long. Those that don't die in the first few weeks (JIT restocking means there aren't enough supplies even with looting to let the population survive for long) will become cannibals and/or caravan up and go elsewhere where they think there might be food. It won't be another city, and I hope it isn't your or my rural home town, but it could be.

Small ones the flash mobs robberies and attacks are already happening and more and more frequently, even though many are not reported on. (That would be racist)

Once enough of them learn that they can get away with it the brakes will be off then.

It surprise me the numbers of FReepers who don’t see it coming. I was on a thread the other day were FReepers were talking about how it was not logical for these people to riot, And I asked:

“Did you ever hear of a riot that start by something that made sense?”

To many don’t seem to understand that you can’t use logic to determine what illogical people are going to do.

When we go to McDonalds and order Chicken Nuggets and they tell us they are out we tell them: “Well give me a Filet of Fish then” or we say “The I’ll take a Big Mac then.” These people call 9-1-1 or rant and rave and start a mini riot right there in the lobby. Is it logical to pick a car at random and surround it and pull people out and beat them? Is it logical to walk down the street and pick a person at random and shoot them or beat the hell out of them because you are bored or just needing some fun? Is it logical to drive over to the park and spray it with automactic gun fire and kill innocents in the process because you think someone there “dis’d” you?

People who do not wake up now and prepare for what’s coming will be the first to get hit. Between their Norlamcy Bias and lack of situationaly awarenes they will walk blindly right into it and won’t even know what hit them. While they are they are being beaten beaten and killed they will still be looking for the logic of what is happening to them.

LOL

This underwater storage plan reminds me of......
Back in 1971, hubby and I (young and foolish) had a saltwater aquarium which we loved but found buying fish for it way over our budget. Since all our vacations were low-budget camping trips, that year we went to Key West in our VW Camper Bus, camped on the beach in a remote area ans spent 5 days snorkeling offshore, netting beautiful amazing little fish. Our “storage plan” was to keep them in a huge chicken-wire cage we made and anchored safely underwater where no one would see it. Each day we would swim out to it, and gather more fish.

On the last day, we went out to bring our cache in and lo-and-behold, all the fish were gone. Someone had been watching us and waited till the cage was full and just took them.

1st Rule of Prep Club: You do not talk about Prep Club.

2nd Rule of Prep Club: You DO NOT talk about Prep Club.

3rd Rule of Prep Club: If someone says “SHTF”, do a shot.

4th Rule of Prep Club: No more than two people to a retreat; one must be a buxom blonde coed for repopulating the human race.

5th Rule of Prep Club: One BOL at a time.

6th Rule of Prep Club: No tie-dye shirts, no socks with sandals, no ponytails, no drum circles.

7th Rule of Prep Club: Prepping will go on as long as it has to.

8th Rule of Prep Club: If this is your first post to Prep Club, you HAVE to buy all other posters a shot.

Moving the goal posts everytime the rioting doesn't pan out is starting to make the prepper crowd look a lot like the Niburu crowd. There is nothing wrong with being prepared but this desperate desire for rioting is becoming a more than a little unseemly.
