No problemo, rock on.

I wonder if the live Alice Cooper Band of the Wagner/Hunter era is comparable to Rock’n’Roll Animal, never heard any of it live.

That Gorillaz album is a good one and that song is one of its high points.

"On the original vinyl release, timings for sides 1–3 were stated as "16:01", while the 4th side read "16:01 or ∞", as the last groove on the LP was a continuous loop. On CD, this locked groove was imitated for the final 2:22 of the track, fading out at the end." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Machine_Music I'm not sure if this above is saying the record would play continuously. Seems I once heard something like that. The "continuous loop", interesting tidbit.

I agree. Lou Reed personified “cool” but was not a very good singer or musician. no offense to anyone that liked his stuff. He had a mood / groove thing going and people obviousy dug him. He was more artist junkie than musician IMO.

Metal Machine Music, best I could describe it is white noise, more similar to leaving a fan, air conditioner or the like on at night rather than something like Brian Eno. I wonder if anyone else has here has hear it, it’s unlistenable.

I have a copy tucked away in my old album boxes. I agree that it is nothing akin to music, just random noise. I enjoy "Sister Ray" but can't listen to this - only listenable with generous application of mind altering substances. I too have always heard that this was a contractual obligation album, in effect a middle finger to his record company. Too bad for Lou Reed - some of his stuff is very good. I got to see him in concert during the "Rock 'n' Roll Animal" days - some of the best guitar work I've ever heard live.

Nicolette Larson’s untimely death pierced my heart for some reason.

As did that of Karen Carpenter.

“Sweet Jane”

All day, I couldn't think of 'the other' Lou Reed song that I really, really liked.

Bruce Hornsby would appear to still be alive. You just threw that in there to see if we were paying attention, right?

Yeah, that’s the ticket!

I think my last post I mistakenly said Juice Newton was dead. But I’m happy to report she is alive as well.

Bruce Hornsby is a very fortunate man. He just might be the only person ever to play keyboards with the Grateful Dead who’s still on this side of the turf.
