Kentucky authorities believe that a woman was eaten by dozens of her pet wolf-dogs after she died.
The Ohio County Sheriffs Office told WFIE-TV that when they conducted a welfare check on 67-year-old Patricia Ritz, they found a human skull and jawbone as 50 hybrid wolf-dogs roamed her Fordsville property. Officials believe they are the remains of Ritz.
WHAS-TV reports that neighbors called authorities after she wasnt seen for more than a week. She reportedly told her neighbors that she wasnt feeling well recently.
Ohio County Animal Control came to Ritzs property in an effort to gather up the dogs, as many were malnourished.
Ive been fighting tears a lot today, Tracey Ward from the Ohio County Animal Control told WFIE. I cannot understand why someone would live like this and put animals through this.
Ritz had a litany of animal cruelty charges dating back since 1986. Adopt-a-Husky Rescue told WFIE that the worse offenses came in 1997 when she was found guilty of second-degree cruelty after Greenville authorities found 120 dogs in her possession and in 1999 when 159 of 184 dogs she had were euthanized.
She was allowed, though, to keep the remaining 25 dogs if she spayed and neutered them.
After the sadness, there was relief, Mary Beth Kolb of Adopt-a-Husky Rescue told WFIE of the most recent discovery. There absolutely was relief that this will never happen again.
The rescue group states that they hope to find rescues and sanctuaries for the hybrid wolf-dogs.
It sounds like she loved her dogs and gave them her all when she died. let the anger begin.
I have a friend with a half wolf doggie.
“Maggie” has been a wonderful companion for her for 11 years and running.
pets eating you when you die
awkward?

“the worse offenses came in 1997 when she was found guilty of second-degree cruelty after Greenville authorities found 120 dogs in her possession and in 1999 when 159 of 184 dogs she had were euthanized.”
That doesn’t sound like love to me.
It sounds more like psychosis. Psychosis comes in all sorts of flavors. Some folks hoard empty bread wreppers... some hoard animals.
My wife came out of the grocery store today and noticed two dogs in a Mercedes with the windows rolled up. It was 94 degrees. She went in and got the manager and he took gown the license number and announced something on the intercom. We waited a few minutes then my wife called the cops. While she was on the phone with them the woman came out and was getting in her car. My wife said to her “That’s the most unkind the you could, leaving those dog in that hot car.”
The woman yelled “F you!” My wife yelled it back and called her a bitch.
I hate people that will do stuff like that. She’s got a damned Mercedes. Surely she could afford a dog sitter or leave the car running with the AC on.
I can picture my 5 pound Yorkie gnawing on my carcass.
Little bugger will eat anything.
lol
My step mother left her schnauzer in her Navigator at the hospital when my dad had a stroke.
Air conditioner went out and dog almost died.
After the Hospital staff helped revive the dog, she had the dealer bring her a loaner and damned if she didn’t lock the dog in that car for another 4 hours.
I wanted to euthanize HER!!
still do
“...dozens of her pet wolf-dogs...”
I think I see yer problem right there.
Wolf-dogs temperaments can vary, from almost complete wolf to almost complete dog.
the true meaning of going to the dogs :-)
You need to be more generous and just offer her free busted window next time she does that :)
She let the car run for all that time? Pardon me, but that’s stupid.
I agree with you about her being a dunce.
I had a hybrid wolf as a pet. He was a great friend, and scared the hell out of anybody who was not supposed to be in the yard.
Yeah right. I'm sure she spent quality time with each and every one of them every day.
NOT.
She was a mentally deranged nut job.
Okay sorry black humor went totally over some heads here. Loved them as in being food for them after dying. obviously this women was anything but mentally healthy.
I cannot have one of them where we live, but I do wonder: How do the breeders know which way a pup will go?
She sounds like the typical hoarder. older single woman, white. thinking she’s doing good but the animals are far too many for her to handle and they become neglected, sick, die.
100% recitivism rate, for those who won’t get help. They just move from coutny to county to evade court orders, and destroy many properties doing so.
