People are effing sick.
I don’t know about a designated holiday but I have heard of a group of bikers a couple hours ride out of Seattle who hunt for them on their bikes and have a contest for the most killed each year.
Its always something.
Probably best to keep dogs and cats be kept in the house even under the best of circumstances Halloween is a chaotic night.

I don’t like the breed but this is stupid and criminal. I would turn them in and testify against them with no problem.
If you can’t burn a blighted neighborhood, may as well kill a dog?
chet99 has been busy!
Serial killers often begin their lives of crime by killing animals.
From the link:
Fortunately, we are able to report that National Kill a Pit Bull Day is a hoax, although the idea for the fake planned massacre may have been borne from a sliver of a truth (and its a fairly thin sliver).

I will still be very careful with my dogs on Halloween.
I don’t own a bully, but if someone tried to kill my dog I would treat them the same as if they tried to kill a member of my family. And they might just end up in one of those abandoned mine shafts in the desert like my guns. And like my guns, never to be found again.
upchuck has NO (as in ZER0) Halloween Trick-or-Treaters since he moved to the country some years back.
Maybe the No Trespassing signs with skull and crossbones and the big swamp with gators they have to cross that’s holding ‘em back.
By all means, have a “Kill A Pit Bull” contest everywhere a wannabe hunter lives.
1. Reserve a small, round, arena from which neither dog nor hunter can escape without the access door being opened.
2. Place hunter and Pit Bull in the arena.
3. Allow betting on the outcome.
PS Pit Bull hunting will be done as the ancient Greeks wrestled - both parties to be nude.
The winner is awarded a PETAPerson.
Loser gets two PETAPersons.

I think Pit Bulls need to be placed on a 'Pit Bull Ranch' that is well cared for and securely gated, away from children!
Is Mike Vick their spokesman?
Halloween is not a good holiday for pets. Many shelters will curtail or suspend adoptions for a period prior to that date out of fear that those animals might be used in satanic rituals. Whether it’s pit bull hunting or witchcraft, it’s probably a good idea to keep your pets close.
