Granite Can Form Quickly

Evolutionists need the “magic” of millions and billions of years to have a hope of convincing us that what is normally impossible according to the laws of science just might be possible if we allow unfathomable years for it to happen.

So it is that they want us to believe that it took millions or even billions of years for the geological features we see to have formed.

Well, not only is the “science” upon which assumptions rest based on an unproven and unprovable house of cards, we are learning that many of the things scientists once claimed had to take millions of years can actually happen in much less time.

Granite is one such thing.

From the video description:

People with granite bench tops in their kitchens are usually very proud of them, never failing to show them off to visitors. But that’s not surprising—serving up dinner on a surface that was supposedly millions of years in the making carries a certain aura about it.

But in a recent paper, published in the Proceedings of the Geologists’ Association, granite specialist John Clemens stated, ‘just about everything that was taught as recently as ten years ago about granitic magmatism has been turned on its head’.

He then described how granites can form quickly. He concluded that granites belong with an increasing number of geological processes that were, ‘catastrophic in their suddenness’.

This eliminates yet another reason not to believe the Bible’s timescale.

While this is certainly a dramatically different view of how granites form, be sensitive when telling your friends with granite bench tops, because they might find this research pretty deflating.

The Bible has no “Earth was created X number of years ago,,” or “2500 years before Jesus was born” verses.
This is someone at home trying to add it up according to their interpretation of Genesis.
And as The Bible has poetry in it. Not everything in it is to be taken literally.

but I want to see original source material

With some effort, I managed to track it down, hoping to get some context. (You'd think that someone purporting to discuss science might provide a reference, but I guess that's too much to ask.) Anyway, the paper seems to be here, though you can't see more than the abstract without paying. He does in fact say "Geological processes are commonly thought of as slow and continuous, but many are rapid and episodic. Granitic plutonism is of the latter kind."

Without seeing the whole paper, I don't know if he claims that all granite formed quickly--which would be necessary if the creationist timeline is correct--or just that it can happen and in some cases did. Also, it's from 2005, and we don't know how it's held up over the past 8 years.

And, of course, the fact that it can form quickly doesn't mean it's not old.

Anyone who has unearthed very much rock (including sedimentary rock) with their own hands from under dry land and worked with it much (with their own hands) knows about the big academic lie.

You are so utterly ignorant of the science and chemistry involved and so driven to reach a preconceived fantasy, you fail to see how it is utterly irrational, even in a scenario where the Deity created the Earrth only some millenia ago. Granite is being formed right now as we discuss this issue. It wasn’t just put there by a divine act and stopped. It wasn’t put there by the formation of the earth more than 4 billion years ago and then stopped. It has always been an ongoing phemomena no matter when you choose to believe the Earth was formed. So, your strawman argument is so inherently irrational no matter what someone wishes to believe, you look completely silly no matter which camp the readers are in with respect to the date when the Earth was created.

try something which is true and credible like carrying a signboard proclaiming a All are Doomed, Repent Ye sins. At least that would be honest and true.

Two can play that game. Try first proving you are a real person asking your question, and you are not just a figemnt of someone’s or something’s imagination imagining your question.

The haloes do prove that granite cooled instantly.

Thermodynamics says you don't cool anything "instantly", and the bigger the sample is, the longer it's going to take.

You missed the point of my post. Some individual localized formations may occur fast, but on a global scale it doesn’t add up.

Yes, there are. Even on a predominantly pro-Christian website, there are plenty of atheist "intellectuals."

All granite that has the haloes has to have cooled just about instantaneously or they couldn’t be there.

Then what, were there large gobs of rare isotopes present so that there would be enough to make the haloes?

Don’t think so.

So we’re embracing that theory that mountain-sized granite deposits were cooled “instantly”?

What, does all granite have “halos”? For sake of argument, I’m conceding that some does and may have cooled very fast; do you contend all of it did? If yes, then what evidence thereof? If no, then what does that mean for the “10,000 year” theory?

And try doing the math on cooling a literal mountain of granite. The thermal transfer is hardly “instant”.
