Oh, please. All that effort for all those scratches, and I've done much better tracing random lines and pockmarks on the side of the icebox.

When you find the equivalent of the Rosetta Stone, like say a tablet made of etched metal with clear illustrations so idunno, a child could read therefore illustrating a proveable attempt to convey more than cave-drawings (historical equivalents of ghetto and subway walls) then perhaps someone should pay attention.

I mean seriously. I should just take a collection of drawn-upon rocks from a major museum and do a fake Nostradamus impersonation by 'explaining' them as how Nobamma is therefore historically proveable to be the last prophet before Armageddon. Probably be much more believable if I did...

Mind you, I have kind of an admiration for these guys who can take nothing and turn it into a plausible something (this is not an example of that).

They are inventive, they have imagination. You can say they cheat because they make stuff up but, I’m kind of a connoisseur of B.S ( but I never lose track of the fact that it’s B.S).

Agreed, however just a bit of common sence is not too much to ask, is it? I mean, I like Richard Hoagland (sp?) very much but must confess nonetheless that I cannot see some of the structures he claims exist.

You can look at any part of the sky and make out a triangle of stars, and a polyhedron is not that much more difficult. Much more determined beyond Orion's belt and you are really straining to make the portrayal. I remember years ago reading a cartoon-book about Donald Duck's formative years, and the illustrators made a valid representation of a section of stars showing the points made up of a duck -a duck with his fists up! 'Struth, mate.

Thanks for posting this. Never mind the critics. The simple fact that GT is focal point where mankind went from hunter gathers to agriculture and indicates the change in thought patterns that man had dominion over the animals is interesting. Indications that site lasted for over 2,000 years with continuous construction before being deliberately covered up(mysteriously)is fascinating.

The simple fact that GT is focal point where mankind went from hunter gathers to agriculture and indicates the change in thought patterns that man had dominion over the animals is interesting. Ditto. And the size and fitting of the stones was something we'd be hard pressed to do today, if we were able to do it at all.

The deliberate burial of the site seems pretty likely to be for protection. Perhaps of a global catastrophe. So the information on the stones may well have been considered crucially important by the makers. And star information is generally considered important by cultures around the world, and constellations are often portrayed as animals.

So there's a basic logic here that's not too far-fetched. Matching the exact constellations are another matter - the article didn't seem conclusive. Possible, yes, probable... mebbe...

I'm not big on knowing star constellations. I imagine the animals used to represent them came into use in ancient times say one or two thousand years BC. This author is saying that they were in use at GT say about 9000 years BC. I find it a stretch for cultures to keep using the same constellation figures over a 9000 year period but yet language fractured greatly into tongues neighbors cannot recognize.
