I hope he throws his arm out ... 148 pitches ... that is old school. I didn’t realize that could happen in SFO. :) (just a gentle ribbing from a PHI phan.)

It was against the last place Padres so it shouldn’t count. /s

Wow, it’s been a rough year and a half for him.

All-star break coming up. Plenty of time to rest his arm. I’m sure that entered into it.

I hate the Giants, but I’ve always liked Lincecum. Good for him.

Wow... 148 pitches! That’s common in college but very rare in the majors these days.
Congratulations to Tim - - I always liked that guy.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the pitch count. Any idea when a major league pitcher last threw that many pitches?

The only sport I know of where no action whatsoever is sought. I always imagine a game which ends with both pitchers throwing a “no-hit” game. (Thanks, Capt. Obvious, no explanation is necessary.)

Is there a website where I can watch the game? I’d like my twelve year old to see something like that. He pitched four innings last night, got two hits, but no runs. He also hit three home runs. I don’t think he has ever watched a pro baseball game.

It’s Timmy’s contract year, so I’d say he made himself about $20 million + tonight.

He's no Marichal or Spahn, over 400 pitches thrown between the two in a 16 inning game but what's more remarkable it was a 1-0 game with Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, and the Willies, Mays and McCovey playing. Of course Mays had the winning RBI.

Something more, both teams used only 11 players, compare that the Phils games today. I saw all those guy play at Connie Mack way back when.

True, the Pads had only one hitter over .280 in the lineup tonight, and it's a hitter's park. A no-no nonetheless.

What do Bob Gibson, Fernando Valenzuela, Dwight Gooden, Johan Santana, and Tim Lincecum have in common?

They all threw their no-hitters AFTER their best seasons were behind them.

That is a bit before my time. I barely remember Connie Mack as a kid, although I saw Jim Bunning throw a perfect game while sitting on my father’s lap in 1964.

Yes, but think about what a remarkable career he has had: two Cy Young awards, two World Series rings, and now a no-no. Even last year, when he was taken out of the post-season rotation, he made crucial contributions from the bullpen.

Even now, he's usually the smallest player on the field. Lots of players with much more muscle mass, but he maximized his physical potential through masterful technique. Has tremendous enthusiasm for the game.

Said his first phone call after the game would be to his dad. The dad who taught him how to pitch.

I’m sure there will be a replay available on MLB.com, but you probably need to have a paid subscription. MLB network might show a rerun in the next few days.
