He's no Marichal or Spahn ...
Well, we are talking about two very distinct eras in baseball, nevertheless, Tim has 2 Cy Young Awards. Spahn only has 1 and Marichal - unbelievably - has none.

Marichal faced some stiff competition for the award during his era and only one was given out until 1967.

Yes, 148 pitches is concerning. Seems that Matt Cain has never been the same since pitching his perfect game last year.

I'm less concerned about Timmy, partly because he needed to show that he could still pitch at an elite level, and partly because he is not signed past this season. Lincecum had the chance to sign a long-term deal with the Giants, but turned it down, opting for only two years.

Yup, also kudos for Hunter Pence and Pablo Sandoval for making key plays to preserve the no-no.

Was talking mainly pitch count while everyone marvels today when a pitcher goes 120+ it was pretty routine back in the 60’s of course there’s preserving asset value, today’s pitcher makes per game what many made back then a year.

It’s the same with Yu Darvish this year, he has not been nearly as effective a pitcher since his 130 pitch game.

On today’s post-game show on TV, Tim Lincecum was named player of the game: he sat on the bench for the entire game in the G’s 10-1 loss.

San Francisco Giants' Tim Lincecum accepts new approach to pitching, By Alex Pavlovic

Among the many quirks that make Tim Lincecum a unique pitcher is that he never ices his arm after starts. He wasn't about to break with tradition after throwing a 148-pitch no-hitter.

"Nope, no ice," Lincecum said Sunday morning, a day after making history in a 9-0 Giants victory over the San Diego Padres. "Not even in the drinks I didn't have last night."
