Well, why not? Obama is using it to wipe his ass probably. We already know he uses the Constitution daily as toilet paper.

There is more than one way to look at this. Using the US Flag in décor on the 4th of July is not necessarily disrespectful. For example, the image posted above is evocative of the wonderful bounty that is available here in the good old U.S. of A.

Now, granted, I would not want to see ketchup and mustard stains on Old Glory, but a table centerpiece incorporating the flag does not seem hugely disrespectful on its face.

I will more than likely get yelled at by someone quoting some reference to a “Universal Flag Code” or some such thing, but I would rather look at the person’s intentions, and not whether they violated some rule they probably never heard of.

They may appologize but HGTV hollyweird types will still not understand the “why” this is offensive.

They will do this again.

(note: koran pages ripped out of a book and used as wall paper would be understood as offensive)

Absolutely nothing surprises me these past 5 years: Obambi’s fat lard ass wife mocking our flag during a folding ceremony, the sockpuppet making two marines hold umbrellas over him and his visitor during a rain, the sockpuppet refusing/forgetting to salute that soldier when the idiot went into Airforce One, and this stupid tablecloth stunt from one of our mindless tv channels.

Nope, nothing surprises me one bit.

Disgusting.

I rarely watch / pay attention to HGTV, but once a year - at Christmastime - I tune into their hour-long "Christmas (decorating) at the White House" special, regardless of who is President.

I started watching these specials during the Bush administration. HGTV initially treated the Bushes, especially First Lady Laura Bush, who was sort of the "star" of the show, pretty well. Then, I believe it was during Bush's second term, they cut the show down to a half hour, barely featuring Laura Bush at all.

Since Obama has been the occupant of the White House, this HGTV show has returned to its full-hour format, glowingly and lovingly featuring extended footage of Moochelle Obama and "Doctor" Jill Biden, and of course, First Dog Bo. The HGTV host goes way out of her way to show how Moochelle and Jill honor our military with this or that ornament, etc.

Such OBVIOUS double standards at HGTV...

Using the Flag as a tablecloth is too evocative of the ones draping the coffins of our Fallen Heroes. NO WAY will I use one on my table.

Maybe small paper flags on stands as place markers or in a bowl or floral display, but never this way.

I have red, white and blue stuff with red, white and blue stars, and that’s what I will use, plus, I will fly the AMERICAN FLAG in front of my apartment, properly.

HGTV aka Freak Show TV = you would think 80% of US is made up of gay & lesbian couples and I don’t mean young ones either, more like old hippie farts. So what do you expect?!

I happened to find nothing else to watch Saturday night(I think) and ended up on the new HGTV STAR. If that wasn’t an insult to the integrity of the viewer I don’t know what it would be. Old professor decorates with pink walls and wins that segment to go on to next episode (which I will definitely not be watching)!

I just went over to HGTV’s Facebook page. The comments on their apology post are revealing. A huge number of them think an American Flag tablecloth is a great idea.

It is a cavalcade of low-information voters.

They must be geniuses over at HGTV.

Why has no one -- ever before -- thought of using the American flag to mop up that fried chicken grease and soak up the watermelon juice.

Wowsers! Cheerleader IQs.

More like “holiday desecrations”.

It seems to me this kind of thing all started with Abbie Hoffman turning our flag into a shirt, which resulted in outrage at the time, which was of course ignored. So now, people like Garth Brooks wear something inspired by it, probably without even knowing where it started, but feeling patriotic by doing it.
