Even with a darker take on the great American superhero, our favorite costumed good guy is still the man!
I grew up in Kansas, says the dimpled superhero of the unabashedly crowd-pleasing blockbuster Man of Steel as he faces attempted rendition as an enemy alien. Im as American as they come.

Looks like your standard rubber gimp suit without the hood, and coated with K-Y. That's darker on multiple levels.
I loved how the last Batman had scathing commentary on Occupy Wall Street. Catwoman’s character walks into a house, whispers “this was somebody’s house’ and then faces wild revellers and a mess as someone screams, “It’s everyone’s house now!”
Or the violence and fear and mess of a world without honor or leadership, only a mob sentencing you to walk on the ice and fall into the river for being the wrong demographic.
