If you have a baby, and a dog, you need to watch the dog every moment for any signs of stress.

If only one dog attacked the baby, why were two put down.

Obviously, the parent didn’t handle the situation. Don’t have dogs that must to be penned. Don’t let them out until they are acustomed to the new baby smell.

I suggest keeping your dog in a kennel cage until you are sure that the dog has adjusted to the new family member.

I would start using the kennel cage gradually in the weeks before the birth.

How the hell does a dog get anywhere near a two-day-old baby????

Gross negligence and incompetence, that’s how! Yeah, put down the dogs, and then think about putting down the parents!

End the breed.

Good idea. The parents should be prevented from having any more children.

I have never trusted any dog we’ve owned with babies and small children. We didn’t have a dog until our son was 8...so I didn’t deal with it within our family.

But since all our dogs have been rescues, when my grandnieces or grandnephew came over and they were babies, or toddlers, I restricted or watched the dog closely when around the kids.

Being rescues, you never know what their past is, and some dogs give no warning before a bite.

Do, or have you lived in a rural setting?

What's the difference between a loaded gun and a pit bull? The pit bull can pull its own trigger.

LOL.

We have a Pit and Chihuahua.

Both are love monkeys. And neither one are allowed around people they don’t know without supervision and a leash.

They are dogs, not people, and will act like dogs if we allow it.

Excellent response, but the truth is, if you have a dog you can't trust around kids, then you shouldn't have the dog.

It's akin to having a person on the streets that can't be trusted with a gun, they shouldn't be on the streets.

IMHO of course.

At least with the pit bull, the baby had a chance at life.

I’m sorry, but either have a baby, or have a dog. If you choose to not have a baby because you can’t bear the thought of giving up your dog, then you don’t need to have a baby anyway.
