A young John F. Kennedy thought fascism was the right system for Germany, a new book that reviews the late president’s travel diaries from his trip to Germany pre-World War II divulges.

The new revelations are found in “John F. Kennedy—Among the Germans. Travel diaries and letters 1937-1945,” a book recently released in Germany, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the British tabloid’s account of the book’s contents, Kennedy kept a diary during a 1937 journey to Nazi Germany. During the trip, he concluded: “Fascism? The right thing for Nazi Germany.” …

Kennedy also seemed to have been enamored with Nazi-style racial theories. …

“The Nordic races certainly seem to be superior to the Romans,” he wrote.

I object to that. My grandma was a WOP.

This reminds me of my annoyance when the United Airlines morons insisted on announcing the demise of Fat Teddy upon the arrival in Boston of our airplane from Chicago in 2009. I was in row 9. I couldn't get off fast enough. And screw United! Worst airline in the world!

Trying to pick the lesser of two evils - Stalin of the 1930s and Hitler prior to WW2, I would have to side with Hitler...although Hitler was pretty darn bad, even then.

I knew he was an “America First” member....the group that opposed US entry into WW II before Pearl Harbor took place...and quite a lot of Americans (esp conservative GOP at the time) were opposed to US involvement.... and were not Nazi’s

JFK enamored with Nazi’s not a stretch.... considering other wealthy Americans (Henry Ford) were pro Nazi. Hitler worked with many large companies to gain and retain power in Germany....big corporations were not eliminated as in Stalin’s USSR

Now...how did Ted end up Commie? That is the interesting question

It's obvious you have no future as a leftist extremist, BobL. When faced with a choice between two evils, leftist extremists choose both.

A family that made it’s fortune from illegal activities (even as I believe the law was wrong) is FASCIST!!!!

Color me shocked.

I think he was influenced heavily by his father at that point. (His father was an ardent supporter of isolationism.)

Yep... old Joe made his fortune bootlegging.

Sounds like someone else we know, initials BHO (our fascist dear leader).

It was likely in Ted Sorenson’s handwriting. JFK never had an original thought in his life that wasn’t related to getting laid by women not his wife.

Uh....why is it even necessary to engage in such a thought exercise?

Hitler would ultimately rise above his critics to become “one of the most important personalities that ever lived.”

Well, he was right about that, I suppose. Stalin was pretty important, too.

A Hobsen’s choice to be sure. It proves that proverb “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” to be dead wrong.

There is no excuse for preferrign either. Neither’s crimes had been made public in the 1930’s.

Many people supported Hitler as of 1937/38, given the turnaround in the German economy. JFK was a 20 year-old college sophomore at the time. I’m inclined to cut him a break on this one.

Good point. The left lives by that. They know Islam is not good for them either (i.e., how many Gay Pride parades are there in Saudi Arabia every year?), yet they’ve been using Islam, FOR DECADES, to weaken their opposition and gain power (particularly in Europe). I guess they figure that once the wipe out conservative opposition, they then can take on Islam.

I wish them luck, but they won’t stand a chance at that point.

Old Joe Kennedy had to leave his position as Ambassador to England due to his Nazi tolerance and inane statements. Scuttled his political career opportunities.

Not suprised that a son agrees with his father.
