The reality of babies and young toddlers it that theyre gonna go when theyre gonna go, and parents will need to change their diapers. But what if a business like Starbucks doesnt have a changing table in the restroom is it okay for a parent to take care of diaper duty in the public seating area? One woman did, and Starbucks employees ended up calling the cops.
Heres how it all went down, according to 9News.com in Denver: A mom had to change her one-year-old sons diaper while she was on a coffee run at Starbucks Friday night, but realized there was no changing table in the stores restroom. So she simply changed him in the seating area.
As a mother, you have to do what you have to do. Wherever you have to do it, she said. I just kind of wiped him off, cleaned him off as quickly as I could.
While its unclear what kind of mess needed cleaning, her husband says a Starbucks employee was rude to his wife nonetheless, and tossed a rag to her while speaking in what he claims was a demeaning tone.
He said make sure to wipe the seat when youre done, he said. They started talking amongst themselves and laughing about it.
He got so mad, he says, he dumped his venti coffee on the floor, saying, Make sure you clean that.
Strong words and hand gestures were exchanged, he says, and the store called the police to report a disturbance. No one was arrested, but a Starbucks spokesperson said the company is concerned, has apologized to the [redacted] family, and wants all customers treated with dignity and respect.
The woman says if Starbucks had provided a changing table in a restroom, she never wouldve had to do it in public. Which begs the question:
In a restaurant? No!
Take the child back to your car and change the diaper in the back seat.
So ... this dimbulb handled exposed fecal matter in a food service area.
Brilliant.
I take my guy out to the car.
How about the brainless customers behave with some dignity and respect?
Please have more children. We need your genes to compete with those of the idiot in the OP.
Health code violation. Period.
Did she wash her hands afterward? If not, I don’t want anything she picked up on her “coffee run.”
Yes, that’s what I did.
exactly, that woman has no class whatsoever
H#!!, half of America doesn’t wash after they use “the facilities”.
“But what if a business like Starbucks doesnt have a changing table in the restroom is it okay for a parent to take care of diaper duty in the public seating area?”
No! Who in their right mind would think that was acceptable in a dining area? I’d call the health department if the business didn’t kick them out for that.
Is that your napkin? Mind if I blow my nose in it?
Hell yeah, they should take the baby to a more appropriate setting for changing the diaper.
If I’m sitting there having my breakfast or lunch the last thing I want to smell is baby crap , much less sit in it due to a not so caring parent not thoroughly wiping the area down.
Moreover, why would I want a case of E-coli because the area where food and hands goes was not properly sanitized .
Change the kid in the car.
No, because a perv will upload the video and/or CPS will arrest the parent for exposing their child.
Coffee ain’t gonna be the only thing running...

So, the Starbucks didn’t even call the cops on them for changing the diaper, like the story implied early. They called the cops on them for causing a scene.
Was the baby just getting wet diapers changed, which take maybe fifteen seconds in a booth away from everyone’s view or was he on a chair (which I do not get) and a poopy diaper?
She could have gone to the bathroom and put a blanket or cover on the floor and changed him, or in the car or stroller.
The STBX employee over reacted.
