Police: Man beat up over unwanted shirt removal (Seattle)

A banker beat up a man he believes sexually propositioned him by removing one of his two shirts during a business conversation in a hotel room last week, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Officers were called to the Crowne Plaza Holiday Inn in downtown Seattle around 1:15 a.m. Thursday for a reported assault and found the victim covered in blood in the lobby.

The victim told officers he was in the hotel bar when he met the suspect, who was in town for a bankers convention.

The two got into a conversation about banking until last call, at which point the victim said the suspect invited him up to his room to continue talking.

According to the police report for the incident, the victim and suspect were each sitting on a bed, still discussing business, when the victim removed his outer, button-up shirt.

The suspect reportedly thought the victim was propositioning him sexually and asked him to leave. But when the victim picked up his shirt and went to leave the room, the suspect started punching him in the head and upper body, according to the report.

I suppose there was a difference of opinion on appropriate interest rates.

He was wearing two shirts? That’s... odd. Or maybe its not. Maybe I’m behind the curve now. Do people wear two pairs of jeans too?

You've never heard of an undershirt?

I only do that when I go to the airport.  Grope-protection enhancements, you know.

The second was thinking “Maybe we could go get some girls” while the first wasn’t?

This does not pass the smell test.

What guy invites another guy whom he has just met up to his hotel room at ‘closing time’ to talk?

I am guessing clear signals were sent and when things starting getting to far the attacker struck out in fear of facing facts.

It used to be preppy standard, many years ago. Button up shirt over an izod (pink was the preferred color, as I recall, although lime green was acceptable). I thought it was a joke until I saw real preppies up north dressing that way. Don’t know if it’s still the practice. I returned to the Confederacy and lost contact with all of my yankee preppie friends.

My father was a homicide photographer and he told me that the most gory, blood-soaked murder scenes he ever saw were those involving homosexuals.

Lots of anger there, apparently.

I was at bar one time. A nice young fellow offered to push in my stool.

I said “Thanks” and sat down on the bar stool and waited. The young man just stood there speechless.

Gee.

“He was wearing two shirts?”

I recall as a young teen wearing two collared shirts at a time to school - not sure if it was a fad, or just me!

Now that I’m old and don’t care; I’ll have a short-sleeve collared shirt on and grab whatever is at hand if it gets chilly - usually a flannel shirt. I’m surprised my kids have never said anything yet! I suppose they know it won’t do any good.
