I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about buying gold and silver on eBay. A lot of Chinese fronts selling fakes, a thin layer of gold and the rest filled with tungsten or lead.

APMEX

shipping may be cheaper on eBay than if product ordered on their web site

One thing eBay shows is the real world auction price among small investors for PM’s

Go to a reputable local gold/coin dealer. AVOID Ebay unless you want to get scammed.

unless APMEX products are fake I have never been scammed buying them on eBay

One of my local coin dealers also has his store on eBay

Another has hispanic and black yoots standing out front with signs offering to buy jewelry, not wanting to run that gauntlet thanks, prefer anonymity of home delivery

I’ve used APMEX in the past, however it seems Texas Precious Metals prices are better and they do have a shrinking inventory of gold coins now.

I should be receiving some silver from TPM today.

well I orderd and received in 4 days last week
but it does go day by day, hour by hour
I am reading some big player are getting warehouse receipts, not physical
ouch

Does it seem like manipulators overplayed their hand by driving down prices and drying up, not increasing, PM supply?

dang I should have got some silver too
that is where the real delays are showing up

I might buy some toliet paper from an ebay seller, considering all of the crap being sold on ebay, but that is even questionable. But nothing else.

Credible fake tungsten coins are unheard of, and fake lead is trivially easy to detect. I have bought often on ebay with no fakes.

Ebay has buyer protections to alleviate all concerns.

Incidentally, if anyone has a tungsten fake gold coin, I will happily pay the full price of gold, because it would be a rare collectible museum piece.

Andrew Maguire claims a default is in process now. COMEX eligible inventories are dropping like a rock, (JPM’s eligible inventories have dropped 65% in the past 24 hours!) and this recent smashdown seems to have only hastened the inevitable. Lots of stories about bullion banks refusing physical delivery on allocated accounts.

If you don’t hold it in your hands you’re not going to get it.

Here’s an interview of Max Keiser with Andrew Maguire. Actually second half of video is Maguire:

Another beef with ebay is that the premiums are too high, especially compared to dealers and even coin shops.

Lots of the biggest dealers are here

I have heard from a fair number of posters on another forum which shall not be named here, who have had their longtime local coin shops and dealers refuse to sell to them...and this is in US but not overseas

either shops have no inventory or not willing to sell at these prices in expectation of increase..., one guy's dealer wanted $50 for silver eagles, walk away price

Almost overnight it seems paying a price based on typical past premiums above spot is disappearing

Reportedly gold pandas are really at skyrocketing premiums

Premium on silver Eagles 1oz coins remains at $10+ above spot among most dealers, so unless you are buying a bunch you could twist your panties in a bunch trying to save $1-$2 a coin (or for gold maybe $10 mol per coin), when the big story is the longer term direction of value, not price

No one should be buying to turn around and resell anytime soon, imo

http://www.southerncoin.com/

The above link is for Southern Coin which is a big outfit in Atlanta that I’ve had good dealings with in the past. They keep their prices competitive and as you know the market sets the price.

I’ve gotten good prices on U.S. Indian Head Gold Coins, Uncirculated Silver Dollars, Walking Halves, and circulated mixed lots. Southern Coin is a reputable business that knows how to develop loyal customers.
