Nike Inc. says it has pulled from the market T-shirts emblazoned with the words "Boston Massacre" in the aftermath of last week's bombing during the Boston Marathon that killed three people and left dozens injured.
The athletic company, based in Portland, Ore., said Monday that it took immediate action last week to remove the products. The shirts were sold primarily at its factory store outlets.
"We conducted this process as quickly as possible and are confident the product has been removed from distribution," Nike spokeswoman Mary Remuzzi said in a statement emailed to The Associated Press.

The Government is considering it just another ordinary murder in Boston so I’m not sure why this shirt would offend anyone?
This is rhetorical and sarcastic.
Yes that is a good decision. Wow!!!! Those shirts are horrible. I guess they were made before the terror attach but still.....
“Those shirts are horrible. I guess they were made before the terror attach but still.....”
You’re probably correct. But I sometimes wonder if there’s adult supervision at some of these companies. For example, JC Penny’s, whose clientele was mostly middle class families, decided to pursue gay business. Gays tend to shop at the very, very top end luxury stores. I’ll bet the only gay people in Penny’s were actually employees. Did they do a focus group? If so, where?
Then there was H&R Block that spent millions on the ugliest logo I’ve ever seen. They developed a slogan of, “Our people got your back.”
The "Boston Massacre" phrase has been used to describe a pivotal late-season sweep by the Yankees of the rival Boston Red Sox in 1978. That season culminated in a World Series championship for the Yankees.
I’ll bet they sell faster than hotcakes IN THE MIDDLE EAST!!
This is why I have such a low opinion of anyone whose life revolves around sports. All sports, nothing but sports, sports are everything. I guess it's too much to ask a sports dumba** to remember back more than 200 years BEFORE the '78 World Series to a little event called the Boston Massacre, during which British Redcoats killed five colonists on 5 March 1770.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
We are in the bread(EBT) and circuses(sports) phase of the demise of the US empire.
Bull$hit. The shirts didn’t just magically appear on the shelves. They were designed, approved and manufactured.
They were caught.
Bull$hit. The shirts didnt just magically appear on the shelves. They were designed, approved and manufactured.Quit jumping to conclusions. They were caught.
These shirts have been available for years.
Excellent analogy!
wow. what poor judgement, Nike.
Yeah Nike should have forseen the bombing. /s
Funny that they pulled the shirts after a bombing that killed three people.... but they did not have an qualms about PRINTING the shirts even thought they mocked the original even that killed more than that.
One would think that production of those shirts would have ceased after the stunning events of the 2004 post season.
or realized the one in 1770 would have still made the shirt inappropriate.
