PARIS, April 11, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ignoring fierce protests that have attracted up to 1.4 million demonstrators in favor of the traditional family, the French Senate voted on Wednesday to approve legislation permitting homosexual couples to adopt children, following its decision Tuesday to approve the creation of "homosexual marriage," according to reports in the local media.
The so-called Taubira Law, named after the bill's author, Justice Minister Christiane Taubira, will soon pass back to the nation's lower legislative house, the National Assembly, to receive a second vote before it becomes law.
Legislators from the more conservative Union for a Popular Movement party (UMP), warned that the legislation would violate the rights of children and make a mockery of the concept of parentage, but to no avail.
"Marriage unites a man and a woman for the purpose of procreation. Two men or two women can never have children," observed Charles Revet of the UMP. Jean-Claude Lenoir, of the same party, denounced "the profound transformation of parentage, from a biological reality to a juridical illusion."
The UMP was joined by members of the Centrist Union Party, who warned that the legislation would lead to government-sponsored Medically Assisted Reproduction, and surrogate motherhood.
"Know that if you vote for the adoption by homosexuals, you open the debate for Medically Assisted Reproduction and surrogacy, because there aren't enough adoptable infants," said party member Gerard Roche during the floor debate.
Such fears were dismissed by Taubira, who complained of having to "respond 20 times to the same question," assuring conservatives that there is "no juridical basis for imposing it (surrogacy)."
The legislation passed following a failed attempt by members of the UMP to offer civil union legislation as an alternative. Opponents of the legislation say they will continue to organize protests
Just in time for the annual muslim riot season.
opps forgot about the gay eer I mean Muzzie riots.
They should tear down their government. What a disgusting perversion.
Yep, France has a very large and growing Muslim population, who don't tend to react quite as calmly as Christian's do when this stuff is shoved down their throats by the government. Expect to see some bombing's and beheading's at gay marriages in the near future.
So their government isn’t for the people, by the people either huh?
Maybe we’ll get to see a new version of 1789.
There once was a song called Everybody loves a lover, Doris Day sang it.
Todays version would be Everybody loves a faggot.
Sung by Justice Minister Christiane Taubira.
