I lke Glen.

My wife’s broadcast (radio) career paralleled his. Up until the time went big time. His old radio stories are classic.

I think he is funny.

I think he can be a whiner, but Rush gets boring too.

Generally speaking, I will listen if I remember he’s on. (I listen in my office on XM, so I have to make an effort to log in.)

Sirius cancelled Foxnews Talk in December and I’ve had enough of their political agenda.

They pulled this crap several years ago and had Fox News Talk off air for months.

Now they can eat Shiite.

There are way too many alternatives to their bunk and atavistic broadcasting model.

The web is going to change broadcasting the way Big Box stores changed shopping.

The power of the web combined with cell phones and Ipads means I can listen to whatever I want, wherever I want without having to buy one of their chintzy devices either.

If you had FoxNews Talk on XM or Sirius here’s where you can download an App and listen anytime you feel like.

http://radio.foxnews.com/listen#anywhere

Heck, those morons haven’t even caught up to IHeart radio, which enables me to listen to Rush in stereo with bass and everything.

Sirius brags on their investor page they are the largest radio broadcaster measured by revenue.

LOL!!! Seriously? You won’t be in a few years.

There are a plethora of broadcasters that stream including teams, personalities off Apps and heck, if I miss a show, I can podcast.

Pandora, IHeart, Songza, Spotify and on and on and on and they’re all free.

Aaaaaand my phone just finished downloading FoxNews Talk!!!

Ahhhhh and now the world is better.

Pretty Kewel!

There is a feature that brings up the number of the personality so I can easily call them from my phone without having to memorize it.

Got the Fox News App and it’s even better.

Loaded, Loaded, Loaded with features.

So now I can listen to Fox News and watch Videos....Whoa, I wonder if the videos will stream off the blue tooth connection and my phone?

Be right back.

I listen on the radio in the morning, and I check in on http://www.theblaze.com/.

I think he’s improved...either that or the world has proven to be as INSANE as he has always said; and I just caught up.

I believe that conservatives are always harder on conservatives than on liberals because we expect more of them...and we believe that they all ought to represent us.

Yep but, now I can listen to Tom Sullivan as my alternative to Hannity.

Got Kilmeade and John Gibson back!

Installed Spotify, Songza, Fox News, Fox News Talk. Had IHeart and now I’m going to take every album I ever had and install a drive in my car.

That’s over 1 terabyte of music we collected over the last 50 years!

Between AM/FM my recordings and all these other choices I won’t be going back to those idiots for any channels and I just calculated my savings to be $1,000 bucks! Per Year!

Flippin Idiots.

Glenn has the habit of going on a torturous, fits of doom and gloom and blubbering about what is happening to the country then cheerfully...”NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR...”

Very funny, but Alan Colmes can’t help it if Gott in Himmel only gave him an IQ of 50. Colmes will never grow up.

As for Beck, I do believe he was the first to point out the gun running/retrieval aspects of Benghazi. The guy may be all over the emotional reservation, but we need his voice out there. I don’t need Fair and Balanced. I want Right and Honest.

I value the way he goes after the revisionists of history and fights against the progressive curriculum in our schools. He is the only one bringing to light the determination of Eric Holder to extradite the German parents who sought refuge here from Germany for home schooling their children.

All righty. So Pandora wants $36 bucks per year for advertising free radio.

It suddenly occurs to me I take my phone everywhere and it’s paired to all five cars.

Done Ola!

Easy decision.

The only news I listen to is AM, Fox News and Fox News Talk.

I should have listened to my brother years ago when he switched off his XM radio and went Pandora.

You are correct. I listen to Glenn everyday. He was for Santorum and Bachmann. He gave Santorum and Bachmann lots of airtime. He also had other conservative candidates from state and US congress races on to give them good exposure.

He only backed Romney because he was NOT ZERO! The previous poster on this thread who said Glenn actively campaigned for Romney, certainly didn’t listen to his show!!

Well people have their own opinions on things and especially on personalities they like to follow. You can’t please everyone. I guess after several months I have given up even trying. Use to be on a kick to promote people I liked on radio or in the conservative movement, but it failed.

The problem is that certain sites only promote certain people. People including Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin or Sean Hannity, mostly on Fox News. Places like Mediaite are a joke. Mediaite just focuses on Fox News, maybe MSNBC, sometimes CNN. They repost or clip video from those networks. They sometimes mention Glenn Beck, they sometimes mention the fledgling Al Jazeera and that is about it. Very Biased Site. You won’t hear anything about the new One America News and their two shows with Graham Ledger and Rick Amato, Rusty Humphries’ radio show, Dennis Miller, Other hosts on The Blaze radio, and so on.

Another similar one is Right Scoop. The Scoop they give you is very biased. They focus only Mark Levin this and Mark Levin that. Do they give equal time to other hosts and shows and personalities like Michelle Malkin and the staff at Red Alert Politics? No!

Basically one is forced to create their own site or blog and promote the heck out of others who people will miss or not hear what they have to say. One will have to clip their own audio or video. Be better if they can do the Mediaite and Newsbuster method of finding a host other than youtube in case your account ever gets banned for whatever reason. Those two sites have their own service or pay for a service so clips will remain until the site shuts down, pretty much.

So people are missing a whole heck of a lot of others and other sources. They also only hear about certain people like Hugh Hewitt when something happens that causes either the left to go nuts or a site like Breitbart or The Blaze or Newsbuster finally gets around to them.

People then only only what they know from what they hear on these sources or from what is being written or from what other people say.

Personally I am sick of it. So I gave up even caring. I even made a mistake by jumping to the conclusion Glenn Beck was for Homosexuality and lesbianism. I don’t have 100 proof of that. A spirited debate broke out on The Blaze website on the thread about Beck’s New York Time interview. Basically, Glenn should have not given an interview to a leftist outlet. But I ran with it that he was in favor of gay marriage because the Times said so in their line of questioning. So I had to go post it on this site and get people to bash Glenn.

It was my fault for jumping to a conclusion. I don’t know which way he leans, to be honest. But to also be honest, it shouldn’t take away from all he has done.

Still the bias from some outlets is clearly their. they promote Mark Levin’s book but they don’t promote Aaron Klein’s book on impeaching Obama. The promote Fox news, but not a peep about One America news’ Graham Ledger or Rick Amato. They promote Sean Hannity, but won’t mention his competition on radio at TRN1, Rusty Humphries. They don’t promote Michelle Malkin as much as they did before and they skip Dana Loesch. So people still didn’t know who she was when she went on The Blaze or Fox News. Just how it goes therefore I am not as excited about some sites. I skip them now isntead of reading the predictable junk. I am somewhere else on another wavelength. As I like to say Ten step ahead of those clowns and three steps behind. Behind because I can’t check in with every show, outlet, site and thread every day 24-7. But I do what I can.

Wow,

This thread goes back to March.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply.

The division of promotion of conservative personalities, among conservative outlets as you described, seems like natural competition for a limited audience. It’s not only preaching to the choir, it’s chopping the choir up into smaller groups. I find this counter productive, to say the least.

As I consider the political and social landscape with regard to the challenge of preserving our republic, it strikes me that the “Message” has taken a back seat to the “Messenger”. “He’s on Fox, therefore anything he says has no merit”. While I can personally say the same of liberal personalities that show up on CNN, MSNBC Etc.. I think we both know that it is not the same thing.

Some time ago Glenn Beck did at least one show on Fox that I think moved him to a concept that he continues to embrace.

The question he asked and the position he has subsequently taken was the defining of “Left and Right” as it is understood by the voting public.

Glenn went to his blackboard and drew two parallel lines, like railroad tracks both heading to the left. The left hand track represented Socialism/Communism and the parallel counterpart represented Fascism/Corporatism.

This false “choice” has been presented by the MSM for a number of years, as if these are the only choices available. For the most casual and voting observers the choice is between a government that will do something for you and a government that will do something too you. Is it any wonder how Democrats get elected ?

As a result of the False choices presented, the conservative is painted as Hitler, while the Democrat is painted as FDR/JFK.

Both are left of center. Both are all about Government control and the acceptance of choosing between the lesser of two evils.

Glenn Beck is building a media empire based on the concept that the majority of Americans fundamentally reject the “Two choices” presented (It’s actually only one), for an alternative track that is based fundamentally on Individualism, the Constitution and the “Leave me the F*** alone” desire that virtually everybody possesses.

Libertarianism or the “Classic Liberal” requires a great deal of faith. A faith in our fellow man vs. a faith in government.

While I have no doubt that Beck hates the idea of “Same sex” marriage, Abortion Etc.. The issue is one of moral/social acceptance vs. being told to accept this by the force of Government.

I would venture that while Beck built his audience on Fox, he wishes he wasn’t defined either way.

The Media complex has been broken and disconnected for some time. Fox News generates an audience that dwarfs their competition and yet under the free TV, advertiser driven model, they run mini “infomercials” while their competitors get ad dollars from large mainstream corporations. There is a serious disconnect here.

Glenn is trying to shed any association he has with a messenger that will not allow his message to be considered.

I’ve been saying this for a number of years now.

I could more than double the audience, in six months and double it again within a year, of virtually any MSM broadcast.

At some point the exec’s will need to actually realize that they are running a business.
