Oregon school cancels zombie survival classes, ensures students will be eaten
Armand Larive Middle School had what is perhaps the greatest junior high social studies class ever: Zombie Survival Skills. But the killjoy parents and administrators put the kibosh on the post-apocalyptic class, feeling that undead studies were not appropriate for growing minds.
The East Oregonian reported on Rich Harshberger's zombie survival classes at Armand Larive earlier this week, a class that focused largely on real-world survival skills and also had a reading and writing component. Apparently, parents were a bit surprised to learn the school was teaching a class with such a violent subject matteras was school Superintendent Fred Maiocco. The class was quickly canceled, to be replaced by an "exploratory reading" class led by Harshberger.
I don't know how much of the class focused on weaponry, but all joking aside, framing a class in terms of the zombie apocalypse does sound like a cool way to get kids interested in survival skills like foraging, compass reading, and the like. And an exploratory reading class won't necessarily mean that the kids won't be reading about gory undead monsters.

I would have loved a class like that in HS. I think it would have really promoted the learning of useful skills that have been lost to our technology.
Could you imagine the fun outdoor projects that could have been done? Camp outs, hikes, foraging etc.
And I thought ... Am gonna quit thinking. Just when one thought schools were going to get series about the hugh responsibility they have, the schools go and remove curriculum for survival. Am gonna quit thinking ... ain’t safe no more.
Back to the basics. Now, if they’d just cut out the Planned Parenthood sex education classes. . . .
Kids were probably alert and paying attention in class too.
Because of Sequester?
This would have been one of the few useful classes kids would learn. How to purify water. Methods of self defense. How to find food and identify that it is safe. First aid.
And they’d read books that are not liberal “save the planet” mantras. Unfortunately, they’d probably become more pro-gun after reading the books, and that’s contrary to union wishes.
A Semester of Sequester!
Its nice that we treat education as a joke or a gag.
Because that’s the kind of unserious students we are going to end up with.
For sure
Dear old Bob was good, wasn’t he?
Yes, he was.
Don’t forget to purchase some of Hornady’s zombie ammo.

(commercial is a bit violent. Show’s a guy killing dead people.)
A class like that would be the perfect excuse to set up a firearms range at the school!

certainly would have been closer to real science than the gorebull warming/climate change crap they are taught.
