Disturbing Leaked Video Shows Alleged Mistreatment of Maine Inmate Bound to Chair

This is pretty disturbing.

I, personally, have dealt with anxiety and panic attacks, or PTSD (because of a lot of family trauma). This guy is clearly exhibiting the symptoms. Do I know his situation? No. Do I believe in waterboarding of terrorists trying to destroy our country? Absolutely. So, let's get THAT out of the way.

I will expect to get flamed. That's OK. PTSD is a misunderstood condition.

Been through a lot in my life. Getting stronger every day! :-) Can't imagine what a soldier may go though.

My point is that with panic and anxiety disorders a person isn’t thinking right, add to it bipolar disorder and a person can be an emotional wreck. After this kid was restrained he either need someone to talk to, or 20 minutes alone for his anxiety to teach a level where he could be more rational.

I answered the same question asked by someone else. For the hard of reading I’ll be more explicit Nope, never been in any kind of law enforcement. Never been acquainted with anyone who was.

I thought your point was that it was a “serious health risk?” Thanks for clearing that up. Kid? He hardly looked like a kid. Yep, he was having a tantrum alright. Hence the restraints. Apparently he had been acting up for a couple of days. They got him calmed down in under 17 minutes and the captain him they would clean him up, get him medical treatment and mental health counseling as soon as he did. Can you deal with someone like that in 17 minutes?

Bullshit. The heat of compounds is measured on the Scoville Scale in Scoville heat units (SHU). Habanero peppers measure between 100,000 and 400,000 SHU. Law Enforcement grade pepper spray is rated at between 1,500,000 and 2,000,000 SCU, 5 times hotter than the hotest habaneros.

Bullshit! The heat rating has nothing to do with how much you get in your eyes, nose, mouth. The peppers I have gotten in my eyes were thousands of times hotter than the pepper spray I’ve gotten in my eyes. My experience beats your statistical bullshit.

I guess instead of pepper spray a blackjack to the back of the head or a taser would have done the same thing, right?

You said you had blowblack hit your eyes, try a direct blast into your eyes or up your nose and then we will talk.

If that is your suggestion, and it is, then I think we know how much you really care about the health risks. Apparently you're not going to respond to what I said.

“Maine is a very violent state.”

I live in Maine, and there is very little violent crime here.

People are well-armed, too.

As for this inmate, this is the first I’ve heard of this incident. So far, I haven’t seen this story mentioned on the local TV stations.

I was worried that you might be referring to me as one being “hard of reading”. So I went back and read this thread. Please point me to where you answered any question to anyone about being in law enforcement.

But I certainly appreciate your tardy answer. It puts my mind at ease that you are not in law enforcement.

The only thing I see in your posts is a lot of nonsense about eating peppers, getting them in your eyes and snot running from you nose. If anyone is a pansy...

I have responded to what you said, and law enforcement nowadays love to use their less than lethal force on people who are already cuffed. Corrections and law enforcement can attrack the type of person who loves to be in power and control and weild that over people. Just look at the Stanford Prison Expierment. Also I was being sarcastic in the previous post.

It was more of a suggestion than a question. Here it is.

My response wasn't direct either but it's easy enough to understand.

You didn't respond to a single thing I said in post #43

You seem to be having an anxiety attack over my posts. Calm down.

Just look at the Stanford Prison Expierment.

Bringing up something different that I would have to go research to compare is what is known as a red herring argument.

I have responded, pepper spray can be lethal and should be used when an officer senses innocent people are in danger of being hurt, this was not the case. Second using a little diplomacy with inmates can go a long way.

You also seem to have a flippant attitude towards mental illness

Diplomacy with psychotic prison inmates!?! Why don’t they just let the poor misunderstood darlings go? That prison environment is just wayyy to harsh for anyone to have to endure.

Does you experience include being tied to a chair and being dosed and then having a mask strapped over your face? Speaking of which, how is it that you've ended up on the wrong side of a can of mace? Are you a bad, bad boy, or just some pudknocker that managed to squirt himself fooling around with you sister's 7-11 fake-o teargas?

He obviously was not having any trouble breathing so no lethal threat to him was present. No, you did not respond to a single thing I said in post #43. Clearly you have no interest in doing anything but attacking me and not my position.

He is not psychotic, he has an anxiety disorder. No one said to let him go, just not to assault him when he poses no threat.
