Help!
Today I started getting pop-ups while Posting Comments on Free Republic. I am also getting some of the words and terms in my comment turned into hyperlinks.
This is in Firefox 18.0.1
Popup Blocker is "On" in Firefox Options.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

It’s NOT FR. It’s malware/adware.
I forget what it’s called. infolinks or something like that.

What a pain, right?

Stop using Windows!
But seriously, you need to download malwarebytes or Mcaffe and scan your system because you are infected.

Try rebooting your computer. The browsers sometimes get clogged with junk.
This is a recent problem?
Have you installed any recent new extensions/add-ons in FF?

Sounds like hostile malware, seriously. Hope your antiviral vigilance hasn’t been hijacked.

I use Malwarebytes and Kaspersky. Professional versions for both.
Worth the money. They catch everything!

Yep. I would search for malware if you have any programs on board. If you don’t have Malwarebytes, you probably want to download it.
Also, do as little as possible with the computer until it’s fixed.

Thanks for all the recommendations.
I downloaded & installed MalwareBytes. It found “PUP.FunMoods” and removed it.
Problems remained.
Ran SpyBot. It found & removed “Win32.downloader.bltu”
Problems remained.
Finally discovered that the popups were from “Text-Enhance.com”. I’m not sure where I got it from. They had a go-away link on their website. I clicked it.
It went away....I think. :-) I will rerun SpyBot and MalwareBytes just to be sure.

True. I should have asked for one OS that connects to the Internet. :-)

Sounds like a foreign critter.
Think of the parallels with that WH maggøt in your ruthlessness in destroying said infection.

I had a malware called snap.do that did the same thing. Technically, called a browser hijacker.
Malwarebytes cleared mine. Microsoft Security Essentials (for Windows 7) isn’t bad and works proactively. That said, no virus protection tool works against unknown or new threats.
