Many pix at source.
Yes, it's an older story. Still deserved to be posted.

"Yes, it's an older story. Still deserved to be posted." Totally agree; it's a wonderful story, and those pics are priceless. It hurts my heart to think of how distressed Mama cat must have been for a while, though. But I'm just glad the kittens found such excellent caretakers.

It is a beautiful story, but I can’t help feeling sad for momma cat missing her babies. I’m glad it had a happy ending. The kittens look so cute and made the sailors so happy!

I love kitty happy endings.

During WWII, one of my uncles worked in the Richmond, CA shipyards. One day a ship came in that had captured a Japanese ship and taken prisoners. On board was a little dog and some puppies. My uncle brought home one of the puppies in his breast pocket for his children. My cousins had that dog (named Judy) for nearly 20 years afterward. They thought she was a mutt, having never seen a dog like her before, but every time they encountered a Japanese person from the old country, that person would get very excited when they saw Judy. I think Judy was a Shiba Inu (or a cross).

Sorry for the mama cat but glad for those kittehs. Very sweet.

We managed to get her back to the pier, and waved goodbye as we took off. This cat seemed unusually upset by this, said Hanst. This is what makes this one so poignant.

Did you check out the next story about the kitty with only two legs? Amazing..........

“I dunno sir, i guess they must have climbed up the mooring lines.”
Sailors smuggling things aboard ship is a long grand tradition.
